Hey guys, I came across the picture posted on page one of this thread showing a second coil over shock on the frontvof a D21.

I just joined to tell you a bit about that setup, so hope I can post a picture or two.

The pictures posted on page one is of our local D21 Hardbody double cabs from South Africa. The registration number plates confirms that.

Here is a closer view of that coil over.

And here

I persoanly have a modified version of the D21 Hardbody that a private company built a version of the Pathfinder stationwagon replica on with a fiber glass body.

Many of us love these vehicles over here. I have personally driven Nissans since 1985 and very little else but Nissan in my driveway.

That coil over was added to the later models with the 2.7TD engine as it was just too heavy for the standard suspension.

It took around 200kg off the torsion bars and kept the front end from diving.

My D21 is also my first 4x4, and I love this vehicle no other I have had.

Unfortunately the D21 had a bad front suspension that did not take kindly to any modifications. Bigger rubber and just a 30mm lift causes big wear on ball joints and tie rods.

Here is my baby as I got it.

I love the attention and work you are doing with your build.

Very neat and professional work, well done.

I wrote my D21 off in an offroad accident nearly two years ago. You would not think so when you look at it, bit I bent the front suspension so bad that it was not repairable.

So I have been doing my own build that has transformed it to a bit of a monstor.

But I am not going to take over this great thread anymore. I just wanted to come say Hi and tell you a bit about that coil over setup.

And now I can watch how this truck turns out.

Enjoy
David

Very nice restoration. A lot of work has been put into it and it shows. Looks almost as good as new from the outside. Do you plan to replace the front indicator lamps. I saw in the earlier pictures you bought the new Orange indicators for the front but don't see them put on yet. Those would improve the front look.

After looking at all the hard work put in here, I am thinking how Arabs just throw away good trucks, and their youth just brag about doing mods with expensive parts all bought from market with very little originality, but our mechanic people, make the whole truck new again from the scratch, that is worth much more appreciating then buying items from ebay and slapping them on all together. The local mechanics, literally remake most of the truck by hand, part by part, accept for engine and transmission. Engine, Trans are also restored by good mechanics, with a lot of hard work. Masha-Allah, good work. Thanks for sharing.

yes i will replace those indicators ,,,,,,,,, in the mean while i accidentally hit front bumper with my home main gate ,,,,,,, that need repair again ,,,,,,, i will rebuilt front face soon ,,,,,,, actually i have been very busy and rarely find any time to work on it ,,,, just today i have collected all parts needed to rebuilt front suspension ,,,,, hope so i will finish it till Friday evening,,,,,,,,,
