I have a 5KVA generator at home, which is loud enough to keep one awake thru night. Just wanted to know that if this thing can be quiten by attaching a car's muffler to it. Somebody told me that back pressure will increase, and your generator will not operate properly and its engine will damage soon.

What are the opinions of gurus in this regard? The generator in question is a 5 KVA Chinese made generator with a gas kit attached.

Thanks!

sir any mechanic can suggest u the exhaust according to the Generators engine... if u will put small exhaust tht will also damage ur gen by heating problem occured due to the back pressure n the bigger one will also effect the performance so contact the gen mechanic for better suggestions....

I've placed my generator into my store room but leaves a little space for exhaust gases to go out of the store which has decreased the noise and I'm doing this for an year ..

ask any guy (who is into steel business, such as those who makes gates, grills etc) to make u a canopy of steel sheet. u can keep thermopole insulation outside, (not inside as it would melt). weld all the joints and leave some space for exhaust. this works. if u buy new canopy from brandeth road lhr, it costs around 20 k for 5 kva generator.

its engine sound not just exhaust sound. In order to make it a bit silent make some canopy wth proper Dynamics.
