I did not have good experience (long term) with glass coating but yes it is promising and someone else can guude u about it. You can easily protect any color by regularly using certain car waxes whixh are available. Keeping a dark color takes a little more effort and if done and maintained the dark colors like black and phantom browns look gorgeous. Collinite waxes are one of the best ones.
@autophile knows best about them
I had two of my cars coated.. swift and city... it's good but does not do magic unless car is maintained..anb glass coating maintainence is expensive and more difficult than regular effort. For color fading keep waxing the car with any good wax liks collinite, meguirs, cg etc or of you are more concerned, u can use sealant like klasse or jetseal..coating will nto magic.. after experiencing two car i avoided coating on my newly bought Altis Grande. If anyone needs maintenance details lemme know..i can tell u what is required and the cost involved..just not worth it
It's a good colour and different from all those whites, silver and blacks. But like all dark colours it takes a lot of effort to keep them looking clean and gleaming. I kept a black colour car for 10 years and I really took good care of it and put in a lot of effort to maintain it's colour and shine and there was no fading at all till the time I put it on sale.
Then I bought a medium silver 1.6 in 2015 and life became so comfortable and easy. I used to clean it after a week with waterless wash and would give it a wash only via two bucket methods after rain. kept it for one year and thanked myself for not buying a dark colour.
Then in 2016 and 2017 I bought Grande and Grande Facelift, both in super white colour and I l really love them. Still once a week cleaning with waterless wash. They don't look dirty for days in super white.
Now I don't think that I will buy a dark colour car again.
@kick_in got this phatonm brown
If you're willing to put time and effort to maintain it, then it's a good choice. I have seen black car owners in Karachi and 90% of the cars have prominent swirl marks, not to mention if the car is scratched it’ll catch the eyes more frequently than any other colour. Dark coloured cars need more cleaning, it’s like having a second job, dust can gather and make the car look dull in less than a day.
As the people are talking about its resale value, they’re correct, the color might be expensive when you go to buy the car, but reselling is a tough part.
In my personal view, I’d stick to a lighter colour. Though at the end of the day, it solely depends on you, there’s no one holding you back, if you can do it then go for it.
