I have a Honda civic exi 2006. I have been facing problem since last two years that when I start my car in cold condition its engine misses and black or rich exhaust produces and rpm of engine become quite low which causes the engine vibrate and if you put it in gear it stops, but as the engine becomes almost full warm this problem mostly eliminates but still minor roughness in engine running is being felt. When this problem further increases I take it to workshop where mechanic takes out the throttle body and washes it with carburetor cleaner and then problem of missing engine and black smoke resolves completely. But after one or two months the same problem reappears. I also got its engine tuned many times from general workshops but this problem reoccurs again and again after two or three months. Please advice me what should I do and what is the root cause of this problem. Is this due to faulty throttle body or something else. Please do answer my question and I shall be obliged. Thanks. What is the milage of car ??? Have you ever replaced fuel filter ??? Why not change the fuel station first...

Sent from my iPhone using PW Forums

besides having the throttle body serviced what u need to get serviced is the IACV (idle air control valve) which is connected with the throttle body the function of this is to control the rpm when idle!
but what ur mentioning seems like a fault with the engine coolant temp sensor because when the car is totally cold and when u start the car the engine coolant temp sensor comes into play and if thats faulty its gng to ask the ecu to inject more fuel n keep the car running rich unless the car reaches optimum temp! if ur car when cold starts and the rpm is very high and remains high for a while before slowly coming down that is one symptom that ur coolant sensor is faulty hence thats why ur car runs so rich at the start and then slowly eases out! besides this ur cars o2 sensor can even be faulty!
and har gadi ka TB gets dirty after a few months its common its nothing new its all PCV related!
you need to goto a proper workshop and have it checked out and not by some road side ustaaad

Dear Amir thank you for your wonderful advice and help. Today I went to a workshop in Model town Lahore known as Abid Car Tuning workshop and explained him all the story and he first of all removed the air filter housing and then opened the connections of probably IACV sensors and cleaned them and reconnected it. Then he removed the battery connections and adjusted a tiny screw with LN key near throttle body housing and then reconnected battery and asked me to start the car. Again switched off car removed battery connections and again readjusted the same LN key screw and after making battery connections started the car, raced it and repeated the same procedure one more time. I was amazed that the problem of my car completely rectified. He charged me nothing and said to me that never take tension and come to us for solution we are here for your help. Thanks god this old problem of my car at last resolved.

No I haven't changed its fuel filter yet. I bought this car second hand so the odometer reads about 100000 KM and maybe more as the speedometer seems like it is being reversed. In my opinion the car has ran nearly 175000 KM. However, car overall condition is very good. Fuel station is not seems to be a problem to me. After I got the problem checked and rectified from a workshop in Lahore I then added STP injector cleaner 250 ML in full tank just for preventive maintenance. Do you think STP makes good products or these are just waste of money.
