Honda Civic Reborn 2007 Restoration Project (Paddle Shift, Cruise Control, Push Start, Complete Rebuilding)

Salam All,

So i got my hands on the legendary Honda Civic Reborn 8th Generation 2007 model.

What was wrong with the car:

1. Engine was messed up. Blown gaskit, power issues, oil consumption and it was very roughly used.
2. Dents, Body wise rough, was already colored due to accidents.
3. Bumpers cracked, destroyed.
4. Interior dirty and very rough. Seats were also on the brink of destruction
5. Steering Box, Suspension all messed up
6. Hydraulic steering always blew the hydraulic pipe due to the steering box

So I decided to take on this project and restore it like brand new. Initially i thought to get a NCP Civic 8th Generation and swap complete car on my civic but it was a bit costly ordeal.

Hence, i thought to go towards restoration route in two phases.

In the 1st Phase I did the following stuff and completed in a week time:

1. Got japanese R18 engine. Found a pristine engine and installed it.
2. Electronic Power Steering EPS since the japanese engine didn't had the hydraulic option and EPS made sense because the current hydraulic always blew up. Got japanese civic steering box, steering column, EPS assembly, EPS controller (ECU), and wiring. Installed it and damn the car has smoother steering than before
3. Got my hands on Paddle Shifters, Cruise Control, and Multimedia Steering Buttons. Installed all and working flawlessly. Loving the paddle shifters
4. Changed all the suspensions
5. Changed the bumpers
6. Seat cushioning done

In the 2nd phase i'll be doing the following:

1. Complete denting and color. Since i won't be selling the car and will be using it personally hence i've decided to recolor the car to Silver
2. Front Projector Headlights
3. Backlights having red bars instead of boring round lights
4. Grill and sports kit including minimalistic spoiler which has little red light in the middle
5. Parking sensors. I already have 8 point parking sensors with dedicated small led screen and i'll install this kit
6. Push start kit
7. Interior detailing, carpeting, etc

Experts please suggest some more stuff to add in my to-do list please. Needs prayers for this project to be successful and i get a beautiful car in the end

Out of curiosity, did using paddle shifters had any effect on fuel economy in local city traffic usage?

You can change gears according to your will using the paddle shifters.... if you shift late (using a gear more than 2-3k RPM) you will definitely get lower fuel average and if you shift early you'll probably get a bit of more fuel economy but you would be sacrificing power .... best is to let the car change gears on D but if you need a bit of a fun or power you can use paddle shifters to control car according to your desire ... its very useful when going up or down the hill

2nd phase updates:

1. Complete dent paint done along with ceramic coating
2. Installed Android panel imported from Aliexpress which supports 360 degree cams .... Installed 360 cams but they were AHD 1080p while android panel supports 720p AHD ... have ordered 720p AHD cameras and will install and calibrate 360 cams .... The android panel is very very fast as it was expensive than the local market ones and has tonssss of options and features and sound quality is massively increased from previous local android panel
3. Push start kit has arrived however i am waiting for its Immobilizer bypass module .... The kit has the separate bluetooth module and car can be controlled using Smartphone (lock, unlock, remote start) .... I'll soon install and will share the updates...

I have a 2010 prosmatec. A few months ago I did some research on installation of cruise control. I was told that the meter would need to be changed. I didn’t feel like going for a meter change and shelved the idea.
But if you are getting the paddle shifters to work then that is very interesting. Can we use paddle shifters in PKDM civic without changing the ECU?

Yes meter needs to be changed for cruise control and paddle shifters along with ECU ... ECU needs to be changed because stock ECU does not has the capability for cruise control

I though ECU supports cruise control ? I read a DIY, I remember it was on pakwheels where a member got cruise control steering and installed it.

Can you list down the prices of all the mods that you have made and where did you source all these parts. I have just purchased reborn in pristine condition and want to add a few mods like multimedia steering, cruise control and climate control. Would be quite helpful if can get a clear picture of what needs to be done to get these things off my bucket list.
