Wrong Engine Installed in 1998 Honda Civic VTi

I recently bought a Honda Civic 1998 VTi. The engine was in a bad condition, so I got the D16 V-Tech changed, but my stupid mechanic installed a D15 Non-V-Tech Engine. The car would not give me an average of more than 6 or 6.5 KM per litre.

Need an advice if this can be sorted, keeping the same engine, or do I have to get the assembly changed again.

Must be an an older variant of exi. Get the engine compression tested and checked by a professional. This engine if its in good condition will give you good mileage so no need to change it imo.

Bro D15B is dual vtec engine and you need proper ecu for proper mileagae

Why you think compression test need to be done? He is running a 3 stage VTEC 1500CC engine on 1600CC D16Y8 single vtec ecu
This will never give him good average

He said its nonvtec so I believed him. There are a few variants of d15b that are non vtec.
Did your mechanic change the ecu or is the ecu same???

To bhai yeh mileage bhi kaafi hai. Ecu saath kharidna tha na engine k. Still its not a problem. You will find an ecu for your engine easily in spare parts market and after installing (15min task) it will run fine. The guy who swapped your car should have changed the ecu. Its his fault

So I should get the ECU changed, and my problem will be resolved, right?

What if I install a 1.6 Single Vtech Engine, will that work with the existent ECU?
