Which engine oil to use?

Hi everyone. I have a 2011 honda civic for which i have been using honda's genuine engine oil 5w-30 SM (made by total; the one with the red cap). I need some recommendations on which oil should i use for the next oil change; I want to move to something better. I specially want to know about amsoil. If anyone having used this oil could share their experience; that would be great. And also what are other good options to go for? The car is approximately 24000km driven till now.. should i use engine flush too with this oil change?

You can try honda or mobil 0w20. Consult honda 3s before changing oil type.

I have 2010 Vti Oriel, After lot of research and experiments - ended up with Total Quartz 9000 SN 5W30. Car is smooth, problem free and best fuel mileage. Change it after 4000-4500 KMs.

Bro no offense, but kindly do not misguide. 0w-20 may not be the best suited oil for Honda Civic 2011 model. As per official website of Honda Pk, 0w-20 is recommended for Civic (2016 and above), City (2017 and above) and BRV. For Civic 2011, 5w-30 and at max. 10w-30 may be best suited.

I would suggest to continue using this oil grade / viscosity, if engine health is perfect! Regarding brand, only Total Quartz 9000 Future series 5w-30! Its best for bucks!

Amsoil is better than Total, but at the same time, its premium and expensive.

I am personally of the opinion that buy reasonable priced good engine oils meeting all criteria, and replace them timely / early (like 5-7,000 Kms), and give new breath of life to engine (instead of buying expensive / premium oils, and dragging them for up to 10-15,000 Kms). Cost to benefit ratio may be same in both cases.

Engine flush is better and preferable, but if engine and especially its seals are weak, then it may be avoided.

This does make sense. Thank you. I'll be going with total quartz next time. Also, a friend on mine is using honda 5w-30 sn fully synthetic engine oil which is being made by chevron and he tells me that would be nice upgrade too as according to him it's so much better then honda's 5w-30 sm made by total.. i did a test drive of his ride to confirm and yes there's a difference. The engine runs quieter, smoother on that oil.. probably has to do with the SN rating which is new compared to the one i'm using.

Brother as far as I know, Honda Genuine Oil 5w-30 API SN fully synthetic; is the same as Total Quartz 9000 Future Series 5w-30. No difference other than price, packing and labelling (i.e. Honda packing instead of Total Quartz packing).

Honda's total oil (5w-30 red cap) is actually API SM vs API SN total quartz 9000. I know for sure because i have been using it my car for a long time.

I recommend because of its low mileage. Also, due it being a 2011 model i asked him to consult 3s first.

i woudnt say Amsoil is better than Total both are good at making engine oils.
