I purchased a SIMTEK Pure Sine Wave UPS that is manufactured locally. Black chassis, called 6+6 or 4+4 ("chaar pankhe, chaar laiet") with a fake VA rating, comes in 12V and 24V versions. The owner has told me quite straightforwardly that their 1500VA UPS is actually only 800W capable, rated deceptively so that people buy it and it actually sells.
They've made it clear that lying is necessary to succeed in the marketplace, because everyone's lying anyway, so I lol'ed and bought it because of his honesty.
Have not tested the efficiency, or whether it is capable of its rated maximum output.
It does output a pure sine wave, though, and seems to charge the attached battery correctly - 15A bulk current, 14.7V until absorption stage ends (timed based on length of bulk stage, according to them) and 13.8V floating until the next time a charge cycle is triggered by mains loss.
I've been using it for 2 years, and it works fine. Battery cables are decent quality with properly crimped lugs, has a 92mm fan, and a large transformer that makes up most of its weight. Blue backlit display shows percentage values for battery state of charge (voltage-based only, sags under load) and inverter load.
