First off, what is a beadlock?
Beadlock is a mechanical device which secures and bite the bead of the tire to the wheel of the vehicle—in simple terms; it means that at times where the tire pressures are insufficient, to properly hold and sustain the bead of the tire a beadlock is an essential accessory or product.
Before going any further, it would be worth mentioning here that there are several styles of beadlocks—meaning different for cars and motorbikes. For a tire and wheel of the 4-wheel vehicle to stick together and work properly, seamlessly a ring like a thing is used which is infused with a larger number of bolts around its circumference. While on the other hand, the beadlock which is used for motorbike is a curved plate; tightened by a single bolt. The dodged military truck used the first beadlocks.
Importance:
- Beadlock ensures that the rim and tire rotate at the single time.
- It prevents the tire to slip when inflation pressure is low.
Moving onward, it is pertinent to mention here that a base beadlock is designed to glue the tire bead between an outer and inner ring. The outer ring is bolted into the inner ring with bead clamped between them.
