What engine should I put in my 2001 corolla xe?

Salam bros. I am in Karachi with an indus corolla that I'd like to modify. She's in really good condition, but the stock 2E carbureted engine requires coaxing on cold starts and the power leaves something to be desired.

For me the most important thing is reliability followed closely by performance. I don't care about fuel consumption.
What's a fun reliable engine for my car, and does anyone know of any good mechanics here in Karachi that can do the job?

Prefer 2zzge as it's newer. But car will become very aggressive.

Can I easily find 2zzge in Shersha or would I have to import it? I can't find many listings on OLX and I don't know much about engine availability here...

Sorry no idea about workshops.
Yes you can find one. 2zzge with lsd transmission will cost like 180-200k.

Nomi is best in KHI, but he would take a while to do this swap, plus you cannot just go and leave your car for a swap, will have to take an appointment. Another option is Redsun at clifton, owners are members of PW here.

2ZZ would be too much for this car, see if you can find a 4A-GE 20v., redsun has a 2zz swapped EE90 with them, also owned by a PW'er, you can check that car for an idea.

Lsd or non lsd?

I am not sure All I know is that this was like the only genuine manual engine in Shersha yesterday, everything else was auto.

Look through the hole of cv joint in transmission.
If you see a thick rod in between then it's lsd. If you see thin it means non lsd. Also you check it by rotating one wheel.

Yes. This project can benefit from an FWD LSD, if available at Shershah market. Otherwise you may look in other cities also.

It is good to see that you are updating the thread, otherwise most of the newbies ask a question but never give any feedback afterwards.

Anyways, you have bought the engine. Now senior PW members from Karachi like @Capsat can guide you better for a reputable workshop so that you may not get robbed blindly by anyone.

Just make sure to get the wiring done from a good electrician, I had swapped a 1NZ into an 86 Corolla and the wiring was done by a jugaari electrician who ruined it but later got it done by another electrician and now it's good to go. Btw, is this engine out of a Celica GTS or Corolla T-sport or XRS?

No issues right now. Engine has been seated, mechanic said 1 week is required for wiring/ac/etc.

Disappointed in the lack of available workshops tho:

• Noumi on Tariq Road barely ever picked up his phone.
• Red Sun performance in Clifton asked me to send details on watsapp, and then never responded.

These were the forum suggestions, but couldn't use these shops, had to find one on my own.

Which mounts your mechanic is going to use?
Which axles ?
Keep the engine balance according to the ride height.
Carefully align the axles. They should be straight when car gets on wheels.
Did you have uncut wiring?
