Depends on need. If low discharge rate is required then dry e.g., UPS. For higher discharge rates wet is fine e.g, Starting a vehicle. But there is a difference of price. Dry battery has two times price than that of Wet, but average life of Dry is also double than that of Wet.

in my opinion if the wet battery is properly maintained it lasts more than a dry battery.

Dry battery is also sensitive to over and undercharge.

in automobile wet battery is better as starting current is high and if both type of batteries are equally good maintain, wet battery has long life. But here in pakistan local made wet battries has short life due to low grade raw material use in these battries, where as dry battries which are imported having quality material thats why they last long.

the life of any wet cell battery is highly dependant on the quality of electrolyte installed in it when it was first put into service. e.g. if your battery vendor filled water from the local well/piston pump and poured some unknown SG "gutter ka taizab" to make his electrolyte then the vendor is to blame rather than the manufacturer.

I have personally put local Pakistani batteries into a lot of cars and all had good service life of more than 5 years on average.

the electrolyte is the biggest difference you will experience.

secondly - if you were to buy a DRY battery for your car it would cost you about USD 1000/- and have low life expectancy as it can break internally from vibration. What you are calling dry are actually maintenance free batteries because they use lead calcium plates in them which gas about 70% less than lead antimony (local batteries) - they also have the same electrolyte in them - pop the cap to see yourself.

the problem with lead calcium batteries that they require abotu 15.4V to start gassing (full charge). - your japanese alternator's regulator cuts out at 14.3V.

wet AGS battery is good. i used AGS 60 from 2011 june in honda city. now in feb 2016 it is working well. after 5 years it is old and i can sold it in rs800 and buy new AGS in rs 4500. 3600 need to buy new battery. dry battery is not so good and it is not cheap like AGS,exide,osaka. after a month we should check water level in engine radiator,battery,wiper bottle. so i think that wet battery is good than dry. life may be same but price is not same.

Actually the real DRY batteries are filled with gel... and used for deep discharge rather then for cranking...
MAINTENANCE FREE bateries are widely known as dry batteries which is not right...
My opinion get local AGS battery, fill with proper electrolyte,
check ur charging system (no over or under charging),
check electrolyte level periodically and refill only with distilled water,
keep battery top and terminals clean and free of verdigreas (wash with baking soda mixed in water),
check that terminals are tightened properly and cover with petroleum jelly or grease...

I m sure ur battery will last for more then u will expect...

Oh and one more thing... keep the vent holes on caps clean to allow breathing else battery PHOOL JAE GI...

Wet battery has longer life than dry battery as dry battery life is low as you cannot refill battery water in dry battery in wet battery you can manage it and its last longer than dry battery as wet battery needs maintenance if some one do proper maintenance its good to go
Personal experience: used twice dry battery but life was low beyond expectation

dude whats ur utility? people dont know what dry battery and wet batteries are..they do same work i.e store charge,but they have different mechanisms for a purpose.
lead acid batteries are also called SLI batteries, Starting, Lightning, and Ignition primarily for automotive purposes. while dry batteries are meant for deep discharge. purposes include a batteries for solar ups backup. FYI

Agreed because I have used both batteries in a same car. Found it is good invest money in purchasing a wet battery with highest amperes depending compatible size.
