salam.guys i hv recently purchased a gli 2009-10 model .which is 68000 km driven.and engine n car is in v.gud condition. previously the owner used 20w-50 Toyota petron. and changes it after 3500km.so i the question is tht can i change to 05w-30 toyota oil .if it is not harmful after 68000 km driven
and 5w 30 oil of toyota is gud or not? and wat happens to car after chngng from 20w.50 to 5w.30
If engine is really just 68k driven nothing will happen you should move to 10w-40 first and observe oil till next oil change than if everything seems fine move to 5w-30 and observe
5w30 is not advisable for a gli 2010, move to 10w40, and stay there
Nothings gonna happen. Have done that lots of times on my cars. I once shifted my 2008 rolla from 20 50 multigrade Toyota oil with 1 lakh mileage directly to 5w 30 directly and guess what, the car started performing better. Recently i switched to 0w40 Mobil from 5w30 Mobil on my w211 driven 126k.... Although people asked me not to do it . Results were the same، better performance
toyota compny has 05w.50 and 10w-30 which is better.i want to change frm toyota petron 20w.50
toyota parts manager says tht engine will reduce oil if i change frm 20w-50 to any synthetic or semi synthetic oil
He is high on sastay nashay.I changed my ex-GLi’s oil at merely 1800 km from 20w50 to 5w40 and car was performing way better than before. Using 5w40 in Lancer since 11 years and even after 111k km no oil reduction Alhamdulillah.
so can i easily use 5w-30 for gli.as manual says 5w.30 or 10w.30 .so the question is tht which one is beter in these two.and which brands offer oil at this viscosity
we bought a gli with over 90k km on odo, changed oil to 5w30 as soon as we got it, its sth like 110k km driven now, no oil reduction nth, engine sounds perfect gives good mileage.
All brands offer 5w30 and 10w30, I am using Total Quartz the so called imported one. Never had any issue with it.

i live in rahimyar khan and weather is v.hot here around 40 to 50 degree.and in winter just one month temp. goes down to 12 to 20degree.so 5w.30 is gud
yup 20009/ 10 model gli. Car is in kashmir, but it comes to rawalpindi once a month. Moreover grades change on car operating temp that to my knowing is almost same with lil difference.

See if you can find toyota taglon for your car. Don't think there's a better engine oil for corolla in that price range
