I am looking forward to buy Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 1996-2002 5 door

My budget is max 2.4 million so can I get a clean and trouble free car in this Budjet and

What are is pros and cons

What should I specially check while buying

One last questions which one is better petrol or Deisel varient it will be a third car and max 500 km driven in a month

In 2.4 million, U can buy a good genuine Prado with 1KZ (2982 CC) diesel engine. Petrol variant of this model with 3RZ-FE (2693 CC) is hard to find in Pakistan. Few 2001~2002 models are available in 1KD-FTV common rail Diesels. Avoid those coz Common Rail Engines are very expensive to maintain.

Forgot to mention 5VZ-FE 3387 CC Petrol V6 is the best Engine but again it is hard to find in this model of Prado. Keep in mind that it is fuel guzzler but very responsive.

Diesel fuel in Pak contains sulfur content to such a level that it affects the Common rail electronic injectors badly. Consequently u have to change them and their cost is too high.

I had 99' tz , petrol 3400cc with Biege color n brown interior . . Perfect car , much better then the diesel one. . . It was amnesty cleard with khi reg. Sold for 2.6 million in 14' oct . . It was a gem... I miss it alot even now. .the power is just awesome. It gave me 6km per litre.

petrol ones are mostly amnesty cleared or converted. converted ones are not worth buying. 3.4l version feels goooood to drive but diesel is diesel. us ka apna maza hy.
1kz is a good engine. reliable and trouble free. easy to maintain.

1kd has injector problem. it was taken care of in the later models. people say it is due to the sulphur content in our diesel fuel whereas some say that the injectors were wrongly designed. whatever the reason, the engines are a bit flop due to this issue. the drive, however, of a 1kd is pure x

I want to buy a 3 door prado 1996- 2001 model. Can anyone please advise as to its price , maintenace cost, whether diesel or petrol, other factors to see before buying. It will an additional vehicle. A friend of mine wants to sell his 1997 model, having done 150,000km. His demand is Rs 18 lacs. He is second owner, bought 5 yeas ago.
