Finding the original rubbers for the windows would be pretty difficult. I've got a rebuilt 1970 microbus and we couldnt find the rubber fittings for the most of the windows so had to make do with the local ones or the ones that would fit. About the suspension, u shouldnt have much trouble in finding the parts. Finally about the engine, ofcourse its none of my business but why do u want to convert it into a diesel? Its more fun with its original engine.
@Hamzamehran. Yes it has its original single port 1.6L engine and its running fine mashAllah. Here are the pics.
Mashallah u have made a wonderful piece of art, especially the bottom overall modifications. please upload any interior pics as well.owais bhai,say if i renovate the current 1.6 engine, will that be such reliable that i take my family from karachi to abbotabad and above hilly areas without much trouble. i have also heard that these buses are prone to engine fires is that right? infact this is another reason why i would like to install a diesel engine.
@Hamzamehran. Thanks for your appreciation bro. About the engine being reliable enough for long routes, well I havent had a long route experience yet but it shouldnt be a problem if the engine is completely and properly rebuilt. About the engine catching fire, again if the engine is properly built and if not driven too hard it shouldnt get overheated which would eliminate the chances of it catching fire. I've shared what I've learnt from my experience with the van.
Here are some photos of the interior of my bus.
@Owais
Your modified VW bus looks quite different from the original VW bus. Nice hard work. I am also looking for a 60's VW van with original petrol engine. Do let me know if you know about any such van for sale. Thanks
@hj2006, Good luck with your search. Many people are looking for split buses.
@hamzamehran, post some pics of your bus too.
The project is going along at snails pace, due to Ramadan and Eid Holidays. Trying to pickup the pace, Installing the 3C-T Engine today.
I am evaluating options for either building a camper trailer and attach it with the MUTT (have enough engine power 2.2 Turbo Diesel )
Alternatively I can go for a dedicated Camper Van, as I want to take family and friends out for picnics and outdoor fun.
