Hi everyone!
I am planning to upgrade my UPS to a more powerful power bank that can stand long power outages.
I am myself quite well informed about UPSes / batteries but want to re-validate and cross check other people's experiences before investing my money.
So here is the plan, I want to upgrade to:
-Homage Inverter UPS 24 V /1.5 KW (This model: http://homage.pk/hex-2004/ )
-Volta/Osaka Deep Cycle batteries 150 AH x 2 or 200 AH x 2
I have recently seen Homage batteries and will be looking into those too, I have no feedback on their quality and type. Seem like dry batteries, but prices stated online don't reflect price slabs of dry batteries. So Homage UPS and Dry battery reviews plz, anyone?
My Current setup:
- Local UPS with copper transformer, Automatic Voltage regulator, Trickle Charger Kit 1.2 KW ( pretty much best you can get in transformer type and desi setup)
- Volta Batteries 85 Actual Amperes x 2
The above set up has been running good since I have myself turned into half UPS technician myself.
I have a volt + ampere meter and battery specific gravity meter i.e. a must have equipment along with a UPS for everyone! Have been adjusting charging speed of my batteries myself with the help of above equipment and with quite low maintenance my small batteries have survived 1.5 yrs and are still going strong... BUT in our vicinity long power outages is a norm during full summers
and my current setup cannot last more than 2~3 hrs, hence I kept sweating and was awake last night from 12:30 - 3:30
(UPS died at 12:30 and idk since when light was gone!) Hence the decision to spend some $$$ for power failure fix.
The setup I have proposed above would cost me around 45,000 Rs and I don't want to take any risks! It should be able to run 2 fans and 3,4 energy saver for 5~6 hrs comfortably... I know that inverters are more efficient than transformer type desi UPSes and I will be adding approx. 100-200 amps in batteries my upgrading to bigger size. As per my theory, if I.A. UPS is all OK and batteries perfect too, this setup should last me 3 yrs and provide strong backup even in severe power failures.
Suggestions, reviews, comments appreciated. Plz advise.
Thank you!
