UK to Pakistan by road... anyone willing to go?

Hi,

I am planning a trip to Pakistan by road from UK (Edinburgh) in June this year. I have got all the information and done this trip last year.

Its gonna take maximum of 5 days to get to Pakistan. Will probably drive till Mashhad, Iran and then get a flight from Mashhad to Lahore and send the car by truck to Lahore as from Seestan o Blochistan (Iran) till Punjab is not safe.

Lahore is a nice place to be at... However, I'll recommend to visit north Pakistan (If you aren't of Pakistani origin)... Interesting trip though...

Costed us around ?1000 fuel. That's the total expense if you are going on a carnet (The Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD) is a customs document that identifies a driver's motor vehicle and you can enter in the countries and keep the car without paying the custom for 1 year. You must bring the car back otherwise it becomes non custom car after one year. it is extendable up to 3 years though)

I saw your old thread where you posted the pictures on pakwheels and videos on youtube. I must say that i was very mush inspired by your previous trip and there was a time, I was in UK studying but could not find a partner who could have accompanied me on such a trip. I had few questions such as is it easy to get carnet (The Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD). Normally people bring their cars to Pakistan and tries to sell it here before returning back. What do you do with your car, do you sell it here or what. It?s a lot of wear and tear on cars but sometimes it seems like a good idea to bring the car here on trip and get it completely overhauled as labor is cheap and take it back. My uncle used to bring cars from UK till finally his Brand New Honda Accord was confiscated by Pakistani Customs and he never got it back. Custom money those custom guys asked was very unreasonable and he had to abandoned the car finally.
