The Tupolev Tu-334 is a Russian passenger jet.The airframe is based on a shortened Tu-204 fuselage and a scaled-down version of that aircraft's wing. Unlike the Tu-204, however, the Tu-334 has a T-tail and engines mounted on the sides of the rear fuselage instead of under the wings.

Already 20 aircrafts have been ordered from India, and Hindustan aeronatics Limited has recieved the manifacturing licence of the aircraft as a part of the funding for this aircraft was recieved from India.
Manifacturing of this aircraft in India is due to start in a short time.

Another piece of news off a Russian newspaper guys,

India determined to buy Tu-334.

Reached preliminary agreement on the acquisition by India to 20 TU-334 and their licensed production at the corporation HAL. "A few days ago, during a visit to Tatarstan Indian delegation headed by the president of the company Hindavia Aeronautical Service PVT Ltd S. Boss was signed Russian-Indian protocol of intent providing for direct deliveries as TU-334, and their license to manufacture aircraft plants India "- said a source in the military-industrial complex. According to the interlocutor, India intends to purchase up to 20 TU-334. Parallel plans to deploy them on the licensed production of Indian aircraft companies. Another thing about why this aircraft would make it big in India,
The weight of the aircraft is less than 40,000 kgs, and any aircraft under 40,000kgs does not have to pay the landing charges to the airport authority of India. And to top it, the aircraft can carry 100 passengers, thats really good for the aircraft operators!!!!!
