Trip to Khunjrab/Hunza From islamabad in 4 days

aslam o alaikum.
last year we have enjoyed a beautiful ,intresting and breath taking trip to Khunjrab from Islamabad and back in 4 days and 3 nights on my 1984 model Nissan Sunny.

Main highligts are:-

Start date 01/05/09
Saturday at 5.30 am islamabad
Reached jaglot at 7.50 pm the same day (Night stay at Jaglot)

02/05/09 Sunday started our journey at 6.oo am
Reached Gilgit at 9.00am
reached Hunza at noon(Night stay at Hunza)

03/05/09 Monday started our journey at 7.00am
Reached sust at almost 10.30am
Reached khunjrab at noon almost 910 Km from islamabad
Reached back to gilgit at 7.00Pm (Night stay at Gilgit)

04/05/09 Tuesday stared our journey at 5.00am From Gilgit
Reached islamabad at 10.00pm on the same day.

One important thing is out of four members ....only one can drive

pakistan is a beautiful country ..from every angle...have good highways ( as seen in the pics on this site )...only thing that i dislike about travel in pak is ..there r not good modern cars to buy and travel with family and friends....and imported cars r obviously too pricey ...not affordable by common people ...such good people at such beautiful places ...dont look nice enough driving old outdated cars ...

I agree with you Rishi, but the main reason i lot of taxes on new vehicles which make them out of range. any ways thanks for liking this site.

Picture above is of GULMIT, which is not accessible via Road since Jan 4, 2010 after the Gojal Disaster, the longest bridge on KKH near Gulmit has also been submerged!

• Depth of the lake has increased to 213.50 ft
• Length of the lake stands at 11.87 km

Masaallah ! Nissan sunny per itna travel ? Great job ? What about road conditions? Because suna hay ajkal bht kharab hay road.susupension kharab ho jay gee car ki ,if u travel on kkh.

Thanks every one for liking the trip,yes after hunza disastor the Gulmit is cut off..we pray for the recovery as soon as possible. The road conditions now is more worst(because on october 09 we again visited KKH and visited Skardu,Khuplo, Dumsam. Deo sai plane).

i have seen the Chile-Bolivia episode in whihc they climbed to 16000 ft on 4x4 vehicles.
on the otherhand you have done it with an aging nissan nissan.

Once again thanks to evrybody for liking the pictures. I made it clear to every one that Nissan Sunny is really a work horse and very very fuel efficent that no one can believe .it have given us the fuel average of about 10KM/litre on the Hilly area. and never let us down at any place and very comfortable too that afer driving constantly about 17 hours or soo in one day...every one was really fresh...however the road conditions in kohistan s very very POOR....and one have to drive as slow as the speed of 15KM/HR or soo...and there is some difficulty in finding the petrol on KKH some times...any ways it was wonderful trip
