Bro, irrespective of thinner / thicker Issue, if 5w-30 has been mentioned in the car's owners / users manual, then it is equally good and best suited. Go for it! 
For normal driving conditions, one should start from the thinnest possible oil, recommended by the OEM. Secondly, whenever you move towards OEM recommended oil grade (irrespective, thinner to thicker, or thicker to thinner, etc.), you get best results. Still, one can move towards the thicker oils, if thinner doesn't suit (many reasons can be there).
70K for Corolla 2012 is nothing, provided car has always been well and timely maintained, not abused / misused, and engine oil always changed on time, etc.
