Toyota Corolla GLI 2017 fuel economy problems!

I recently bought a Toyota Corolla GLI 2017 model in manual transmission and while I am overall satisfied with the vehicle with regards to interior and exterior, what has really shocked me is the fule economy. The car is giving me an average of about 6-7 KM and this really worries me. Someone has suggested that this will change once I get the first fuel change done however I'm not really sure because this is the first time I've had this happen to a new car of mine.

Your thoughts?

Usually normal breaking period is 10,000 Km. After that mileage starts to get better. Bought a Gli Automatic in May 2016. At the start it was 7Km. After 5000 Km it rose to 9 and now at 20000 Km its constant 11 as i drive it really harsh or roughly, never keep in eco range so i get 11Km/l which i pretty decent according to how i drive

It's normal .it will get better after breaking period as told by other fellow

Bhai jan same issue here
My Facelift Gli manual is giving 7 to 8 kmpl
It drove just 250 km
The dealerShip said on 1st free service tapet will be adjusted and mileage will get better

Did you guys reset the trip meter after refuelling?
I believe it's a myth that fuel economy will change after 5k or 10k kms. I have driven my Altis 1.8 for 8000 kms and it used to give me 11.5-12 km/l and it still gives me the same. I didn't see any improvement. Neither did I in my previous car.
Change your driving style a bit. Keep RPM under 2500-3000.

First refuelling pe trip meter/average meter reset karen. It'll show better mileage.

The avg on GLi AT is the poorest of all Corolla variants. You will have to live it. To get even 10 you need to get quality petrol and clean, change air filter element frequently because in dusty environment it gets chocked early.

Reset meter
Take long drive of 50km at motor way to see if it reaches 13-14. If it does then it is good.

My driving style is very lenient and easy so I don't understand what the problem is. Since its only been a couple of weeks I've had the car, I'm going to make a trip to the dealership in a day or two because this is seriously concerning. I owned a Honda City previous to this GLI and the Honda gave me a very good average of around 14.

Some people I've spoken to have suggested selling the Corolla and buying a Vitz or some other hatchback like Aqua because they supposedly have great fuel consumption and economy and also all the comforts a modern car would require.

I'm probably not going to go ahead with this though. I've always driven sedans..

Vitz has less fuel economy .aqua has better fuel average due to hybrid but that will all go away if something happens to its hybrid system

I also own a Gli 2017 (Delivered in March), and I'll tell you what. Fill half the tank with regular and half with Hi-Octane. That will marginally increase the performance, and make the engine quieter. I used this technique, and mine gives me 12 AVG with AC plus flooring sometimes at red lights haha.

I recently got Corolla 2017 delivered in August. In the beginning it started from 6.5, but now gradually moved to 9.9 with AC and is improving day by day.

My cousin has GLi AT and his average is only 8 even after 4 months.

Gli AT gives bad economy for sure. If you're 'extremely' careful, then you can get 9-10 out of a Gli Automatic. However, for a manual, if you use the Liqui Moli Engine oil, occasionally mix some hi octane with regular petrol, you can get upto 13-14 (city) and 16-17(long) on a Gli manual.

That's pretty good mileage as with Gli I haven't been able to get beyond 12 in city and 15 in motorway

I dont know how your Gli Automatic gives so low (8-9). Mines has been giving me 11km/l in city with AC and i dont drive like a Grandma. My gear changes are never in Eco. Always at 3500 Rpm still giving me 11 on the dot
