I own a Toyota Vitz 2009 with 1kr-fe Engine with 138k on the meter. The engine is consuming oil and giving bad milage like 6 km per liter black smoke on higher rpm car feel underpowered so need your opinion what to do. As I am from Quetta and the only thing I have been told by the mechanic here is that it cant b rebuild Engine swap is the only way to go but I think if I go to Karachi I would be able to find someone who can Overhaul this engine. So need your opinion on this matter.
It's pretty common for mechanics to try to avoid overhaul because swapping with a used engine takes less work and time. Overhaul is the better option, Just make sure to use high quality parts.
Only if you can find a good machinist and a mechanic who knows his tolerances and torques. I mean a mechanic who knows his shit.

Don't try rebuild anywhere in those areas, the machinery & machinist are lacking knowledge, so swap assembly. If you were from Islamabad or rawalpindi. Rebuild was very easy job from us & ata u rehman ijp.
So then should i go for a 1300cc engine swap ? Right now running 1000c 1kr.
If you can afford 1300cc swap than go for it. No mechanic in Quetta is able to overhaul 1krfe. They are good at rebuilding diesel engines only. In Karachi there are few mechanics but than again its not a one day job. So its preferred to go for swap. Keep the old engine and wiring intact so that with time and budget u can have it rebuild from Khi or Isb or Lahore.

I hv done vitz overhauled twice 1 was 2013 model other was 2011 tomorrow i will do 2006 model.engine all 1krfe but keep in mind boring is recommended if u want peace
