Switching from ZIC 10W40 Fully synthetic to Liqui Moly 5W30 Semi sythetic

AoA all,
I want to know if its safe to switch from ZIC 10W40 Fully synthetic to Liqui Moly 5W30 Semi synthetic.
I own Mazda Carol 2009 660cc 100K on odometer and live in Rawalpindi. My daily drive will be almost 48 km (24km distance to my office)
Actually i don't want to use 10W40 oil in it.
If its not safe then any other suggestion for me?

My advice would be to choose liquimoly 5w40 fully synthetic oil. It would he suitable for your car..
If your car was 40-50k driven i would have blindly said 5w30. But currently I'll suggest do compression test if you have good compression readings then you can choose 5w30 too.

it is not advisable to move to thinner oil from thicker
i think 5w30 is thinner oil than 10w40.
its an idea.

Yeah it was in my mind too to go for compression test and then search if 5W30 is feasible or not.

W.S. If your car's engine health is good, then I would recommend to switch to 5w-30 ASAP. 10w-40 is too thick for these small 660 cc engines, and is therefore, not recommended. 5w-40 is still a better choice.

Whenever you switch from non-recommended to recommended oil grade (irrespective thick to thin, or thin to thick), you get best of pick, power, performance, fuel efficiency, etc.

Instead of Semi-Synthetic, I would suggest to go for Fully Synthetic, 5w-30, API SN / SN Plus Oil, and if you want best value for money, go for Total Quartz 9000 Future Series. You will never regret.

Just change oil along with genuine, OEM Oil filter, after every 5,000 Kms.

Basit brother i am also in favour of fully synthetic but Liqui Moly guy near Adyala road convinced me for semi synthetic.
Have u used this oil. And any harms in long term use. Low drain interval is not a problem for me IA. Just confirming i can swotch to this brand for future.?

Nope. I have never used Liqui Moly Semi-Synthetic oil, and neither will I ever use it. I.A.

It may be good, no doubt, but why go for really expensive oils, which may last 8,000-10,000 Kms, but your engine's oil filter won't? Why not to go for best for bucks? Like Total Quartz 9000 Future Series? With reasonable drain interval, and also works fine with genuine Oil filter? Like change both after 5,000 Kms?

Those engine oils or brands, which are for large drain intervals, like 15-20,000 Kms or 01 year (whichever comes first) are for engines which have large oil sumps, like 6-8 Litres (or may be even more).

Liqui Moly Fully Synthetic engine oil with the same drain interval, will be "Zulm" for both engine and engine oil, if engine just requires 3L of oil.

No oil is harmful in the long run, as long as you change oil + Oil filter after regular intervals. Its not the oil which is harmful; its the sludge and gunk which is made and gets deposited, when you do not change oil timely.

And if talking about Total Quartz 9000 Future series 5w-30, Yes, I have used this oil in my ex-ride, Passo. Its best for bucks! and great oil. But ensure that it is 100% genuine and original, and you buy it from some reputed oil store, or Metro, etc.

You can use it with full confidence. No harm in the long run, but I would suggest to switch right now; instead of first using Liqui Moly Semi Synthetic, and then Total Quartz Fully Synthetic.

I also am not in favoir of oils which have more then 5k kilometers of drain interval. Sometimes i chang my zic @ 2500 kilometers or so. Right now my car has done almost 1800 and i am going to chang oil on this weekend.
Does metro Islamabad have genuine oils ?
and which oil and air filter should i buy from there.

Soo much hatred for liquimoly just to support your quartz 5w30? It's piece of shit.
Used it in my Nissan and what I got was noisy tapets and little bit wear signs on crank bearings.
I bought it on good reviews..

But today i only know three oils.
Amsoil, Mobil and liquimoly.

Manufacturers state 15k km drain interval on manuals. Nissan, Suzuki. Both have 15k km drain intervals on single filter. Although i don't take my liana beyond 13k km on liquimoly molygen and 9k km for special tec lm

And both of my cars are having 180+ psi compression (hot).
And m18a has done 30k km up till now safely without any issue. And has zero sludge deposit.

Moving to my Nissan QG18de, its on special tec done 15k km, zero sludge, no problem whatsoever alhamdulilah..

So now I can't say basit bhai is a liar nor u can't sat this using long oil drain intervals will eff up ur engine...

You may have a different choice but for your choice don't degrade something else that you've not used nor you will ever use...

Yes Brother, I have also heard that Metro Pakistan has 100% genuine oils, and sometimes, there are deals / sales going on the oils too.

You may choose any brand, which meets above mentioned requirements. And regarding oil filter, just use genuine, OEM one.

I think current generation Mazda Carol is the same as Suzuki Alto (same shape and everything, just badges are different). So if you have the current generation Mazda Carol, and it's oil filter is not available, compatible Suzuki Alto 660 cc oil filter can also be used.

I was just supporting Total Quartz 9000 Future Series, because to me, it is best for bucks! If some day, any other product comes which offers same (or more value) at less price, I will surely go for that and support / recommend it too.

I have reasons to not use / recommend Liqui Moly (or other expensive oils) for cars with quite small oil sumps and oil filter not lasting more than 5-6,000 Kms and I have already explained them in posts No. 11 & 12.

Yes, if oil sump is large, genuine OEM oil filter lasts more than 13-15,000 Kms, then for sure, Liqui Moly is Good to go; but still, Fully Synthetic or Synthetic, but not semi synthetic! (its my opinion, others can totally disagree)
