Switching from Grande to Civic X, want to know about faults, fuel consumption etc

Aslam O Alaikum everyone!

Long term Grande owner here, now looking to switch to a Civic. Was considering the newer one, but turned out I like the Civic X shape better. Now I am considering Civic X, either 1.8 Oriel or 1.5 RS Turbo (2019 late - 2021)
Can someone guide me on the following things:
• Any known Civic X Faults
• Price Bracket of a White / Black ISB Registered one (of course, depending on the condition)
• Fuel Consumption (both within city, and on motorway)
• Any thing I should know before switching from Grande to Civic, like any noticeable differences in drive/feel/comfort etc.

Please answer the questions based on personal experiences. Which happens to be the main reason I am starting a new discussion as I found a lot of posts regarding my questions scattered but most of them just mentioned what Honda claims, so no point.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I had both, sold the grande after a long years for a sportage and had a civic x 1.8 with it.
Economy 8 to 10, long is around 13.
Strictly a city vehicle, not made for poor road conditions.
It's a motorway and payment road queen, handles beautifully.
Very low seat height, extremely difficult for aged people to get in and out.
1.8 has a huge noticeable cvt lag, grande is pretty much lag free.
Overall build quality is ok.
Would recommend getting a 1.5t.

1.5turbo if possible RS.

better fuel average 13 to 14.5 local easily, may vary with driving style. 17 to 18.5 on motorway with AC at a speed of 125kph. again depends on number of people on board.
at speed of 100 average is 20 plus.
personally experienced after driving car for about 10months and 50000 kms from karchi to khunjerab and skardu. hilly areas average is 15 to 15.5.

it has the punch that naturally aspirated cars lack and that too with a better fuel average. effortless drive.

only drawback is driver and passenger seats are hard.

suspension is fine and durable yet to experience any issue though i frequently drive on kacha paka roads.
no road clearance issue.

Motorway mileage 17+ at 120

Steering rack is known issue, replaceable from Honda after pursuance

Offroad driving needs care as compared to grande but it holds surprising well

Well explained, I live in sort of a hilly area (Kashmir) and the place I happen to live in, has quite good roads. No kacha paakka here. So 1.5 Seems like a good choice to me.

Thankyou and what about the petrol issue? Some people say that RS Turbo strictly needs Hi Octane Premium Fuel, which really isn't a problem where I live but then again, I travel a lot so need to be cautious.

What about the turbo? One of my mates had an RS Turbo, it's barely driven all year. He's had it since 2021 May, and the car has been driven for less than 1000 kms. Now on his last visit to Pakistan, he faced an issue on the turbo and needed to be replaced. Is that like a subjective issue or a known fault?

u will need NOT to rev it high on steep turns and ascends after slowing down to regain momentum and speed due to torque just like a diesel engine car minus noise.
on straight ascending patch the difference gets really obvious as u effortlessly accelerate without making much noise and leave way behind the other cars. The other cars u mentioned in order to keep up have to be reved up and geared down.
Just to clear one thing It's not a sports car just a better economical family car with some additional horses.

Ive had both, Extremely disappointed with Civic X 1.8. In only 1200 km driven , it developed steering knock, known issue. then AC condenser failed. On the very first day when I took delivery and went to get imported tires, when the guys took off original tires i was shocked to see suspension parts (not Disc brake rotor) were getting surface rust on the joints.
Quality is down the drain. I sold it off later that year.
Grande is a fine car; I had it since 2016 no issues yet. just normal oil change, once wiper blade change and thats it. Gives 18kpl on long @100-115 setting on cruise. Suspension is good, brakes are okay not as good as hondas. I also had a city 1.5 , took great care of it but it also had manuf. defects, leaked oil from some gasket. Honda people said its not covered in warranty. sold it off as well.

I've owned both Civic X and multiple Grandes.
Civic X feels better in handling than Grande but the seats are too low in Civic
Civic imo gives a little bjt less fuel AVG than Grande but that might vary from driver to driver
Civic is too low for speedbreakers especially if you have passenger
Civic is also not good for dirt roads and even slight off-road areas you can't take it to your village or other rural areas without risk of your car breaking something. There is also more suspension noise in Civic when hitting potholes and bumps.
I have heard of steering rack issue in Civic but I haven't experienced it yet.
In short, Civic is great for highway driving and city driving but is a bit too low for Pakistani roads.

I’ve kept multiple civic X and I did a mistake of buying a grande
Handling/grip=civic
Acceleration/performance=civic
Now i know alot of you will say grande has better acceleration
But you need to floor the pedal in X by a proper momentum
And you’ll see the difference your self
Only thing is the passenger seat height which is very low
It can be made higher by desi jugaar
One thing more is that civic X leather seats become hard
Other than that steering rack issue is main issue that cane
I kept around 2 facelift Civic X in which I did not face the issue
And kept 4 prefacelift civic X and of them 3 faced the steering rack issue
I would advise you to go for turbo as it is a complete package i.e power/comfort/handling/grip/looks

2020/2021 rs in good condition varies from 58/64

Fuel average I got on my civic was 11-13 in local with ac with average foot
And on long 14/16

Turbo seems to has better average due to the fact that it has better power to weight ratio and is 1.5

Grande just lacks the driving pleasure of a sedan

I kept my one facelift from 5k km and drove it for around 2 years until the odo meter was almost 50k
Just sold it in nov
The other Facelift I still have

Coming to the prefacelift
Kept 1 from 2017 no issues
Another one from 2018 brand new and only got steering rack issue
The other 2 prefacelift i kept for around 1 month and they already had steering rack issue so sold them

I’ve also kept grande for almost 2 years
So yes I do have experience about both cars

I have kept Grande 2017 till 2020. Drove it till 45 k kms. Also kept an altis 1.6 from 2017 till last month drove it for 112 k Kms. Zero issues in both. Though i havnt kept a civic yet, i have booked the 11 gen in April and expecting a delivery.

But there are several Civics in office with colleagues and almost 50% of those have had issues of AC coil leaking, Steering Racks and Batteries in earlier models. Plus in 5 years Civic have detoriated more in condition compared to Grande's.

Plus the feedback on service level of Toyota dealerships is far superior compared to Hondas.

So i drive both civic x 1.5 turbo and a 2019 altis 1.6 daily.
The civic is really nice because of the multilink suspension and has a very good steering feel and grips the road well. Using normal fuel no octane boosters or anything. The 1.5 earth dreams engine has oil dilution issues but you should be fine changing the oil every 5000kms.
As far as comfort is concerned, civic seats are very uncomfortable for journeys longer than an hour. The passenger seat is extremely low and anyone with back issues or old people will not appreciate this at all.
Build quality is pretty good on corolla and i havent had any issues so far. Civics are known for steering rack issues, ac issues, misaligned panels everywhere and poor build quality in general.
Both cars are pretty good on fuel giving ~11-13kmpl in city if you drive calm.
Despite the issues in civic i still quite enjoy driving it because of the better handling, braking and power. The 1.8 is a slouch though i would never recommend you to go for that. Test drive a turbo and then make your decision.
As far as maintenance is concerned honda dealerships (in karachi atleast) are super annoying and have no parts in stock other than filters and brakes and you have to wait weeks for anything to be installed be it a windshield, sidemirror, door handle, 'sir ye tou order hoga'.
Toyota parts are readily available at most dealerships and the staff is way more polite and courteous.
Maintenance cost is similar for turbo rs and corolla but the civic is way more likely to have a malfunction or breakdown because of poor build quality.
Also the civic stock headlights are pretty trash and you can't see shit.

To sum it up: Don't get the 1.8 civic x its not worth it. Honda build quality is much inferior to toyota in Pakistan just like their dealerships. The 1.5 turbo is very fun to drive as long as you find a well kept one with maintaince history.
