Suzuki swift fuel consumption

Hi guys. i've bought me a swift this month. So i've done over 2,500 KMs so far and the fuel average isn't impressive. Yesterday I had to take a little trip so thought to check the fuel average and had the tank filled at recommended petrol pump. I already had 2-3 Litres in my tank before filling, so I didn't bother going beyong Rs.3,800/=

There was still a few litres capacity but I stopped. Anyway, I filled at 2183 and stopped at 2574 and the result's in the pic below. That's hardly 4-5 litres of petrol left in the pic below. And since I didn't fully filled the tank before trip, subtract a 2-3 litres from then as well, that's around 7 litres of petrol out of a full tank, which is some 44-45 litres. So, I did 391 KMs in almost 38 litres, 300 of which were done on highway and only 91 KMs were done in city. AC was never turned off throughout the trip.

So personally, I'm not impressed with the average given my daily running of over 50 KMs and I don't intend to switch to CNG either. I don't expect over 20 KMPL but at least 12 in city and 15 on highway.

You did about 10 KMs per litre. 1st off, since you car is new, the milage sould improve after you cross 5000 KM. Secondly, milage depends on how much of a heavy foot you drive with. Have you put on wider rims/tires etc or is it stock.

Dont expect better than this from your Swift, its a gas guzzler. Well the mileage will improve a bit after more running but not that much

Ur consumption is just abt right. It won't give u more than 12kpl

Well bro mine i just got filled today drove it 489 kms totally local and my daily route is on GT road so yeah gear changes are in the routine.The reserve light wasn't even on when i was getting it refilled total of 37.49 liters was filled and gave me an average of 13km/l which is not bad...the milege will improve after 5000kms....

Average will improve gradually i getting around 500KM in 43 litres totally driving it within city Few tips are maintain tire pressure. Regularly gets the air filter clean use fully synthetic oil.Plus when you get used to of ur car it will also improve average.

do the gear changing as follows along with a soft foot on pedal

10 kmph 2nd gear
30 kmph 3rd gear
50 kmph 4th gear
70 kmph 5th gear

Well, I don't necessarily drive with a light foot but I don't floor it 24/7 either, just when I'm in mood for some fun. The car's stock.

Let's hope so.

I'm fine with 12, as long as it's in city with AC.

13 KMs locally is more than enough for me. Hell, I wouldn't mind 12.

The good thing is even with these gear changes speeds and light foot the car drives considerably faster than a mehru. the DOHC engine takes load instantly even when a gear is shifted early. once you reach speeds b/w 70 to 90 kmph all you have to do is to maintain it. I have got upto 16.9 kmpl with AC between isb and rwp. and i do a little of hypermiling.

I would love to see the performance of this car with the ECU add-on being sold in the market for performance and economy.

i normally dont look at speed while shifting,i just shift at 3k rpm normally

Bulls***.
I have a swift and I drive really fast. I change gears at 4k RPM. Everything stock and Im getting 13km/l in LHR.
My daily running is 60KM but my travelling route is pretty clear. Mostly in 4th and 5th gear. however in traffic I believe it should to 12km/l atleast

driving fast also can save fuel. maybe you move in and out of traffic and stop less often.

i am very happy with my Swift, DLX 2011, Manaul. i measure average in every full tank. i am getting 11.75 to 13.75. today i got it filled after covering 436KM, fuel station guy filled it to cap level and it was 35L (comes up to be 12.46) however i think fueler had put at least 1L additional fuel which was not required. this milage is in local, with roughly 40-50KM every day with AC and 40-50 without AC.

Salam guys I have bought a new suzuki swift 2014 dlx with navigation the problem that I'm suffering is with it's average everyone says that swift give 13 in city but mine give 7,8 my full tank give me 308 km my friend swift gives him 450 full tank but what's wrong with mine y it's not giving me plz help me what should I do and my total mileage is 1300 km

I recently purchased swift dlx 2014 model it's total mileage is 1300 and I always filled it's tank full and it's giving me 8 average I don't know y I shift my each gear on 3 rpm plz tell me what should I do for that plz tell me someone

A new car consumes more fuel since the engine is breaking in. I used to get 380-400 KM on full tank when i first got it. Now i get 550 KM.
I change gears at 2500 RPM. Be patient and break the car in properly:)

Your average will improve after 5000km and after 10,000km you will love your car. I get about 14kmpl in city with a lightfoot, 17 at speeds of 90kmph and 15kmpl at speeds of 120kmph on Motorway.
I use fully synthetic oil, Clean air filter regularly and keep tire pressure 33 in front and 30 in rear.

I'm planning to install LPG in my swift. Just gathering enough info. then I will create a thread and share my experience:P
Cng has no future IMO. LPG is more expensive than CNG but cheaper than Petrol.

According to my rough calculations, if I drive 100km each day- I can save 100,000 Rupees in Fuel Every Year!

My first trip was around 340. It was 23rd june and drive time started around 1 pm. Drove with AC from ghotki to moro. Surprisingly got 18kmpl average. But never exceeded from 80 kmph. After that its been almost 1.5 years my average on long route is around 16-17 with AC @ 100-120kmph. Intercity 12-13. In mix mode get 14-15. Always topup after using 75% of the tank and check my average on each refule.
Conclusion is my average 14-15 in mix mode
