Suzuki Swift 2014 | Preferred Engine Oil To Use

Hey everyone

Posting here for the first time looking for some support/clarity.

I recently bought a second-hand swift, 2014 model, and its done around 93,500KM. Its engine oil change up is due, and the owner's manual isn't present with me for an exact reference point.

The previous owner used SGO Efficient 5w30 in the last oil change.

My questions -->
1) Would it be alright to upgrade to a fully synthetic engine oil from a known OMC from here on out? Would it increase performance substantially?
2) If so, would Quartz 9000 5w30 even be suitable for Swift 2014 model that's done this mileage (i've used this for my 1300cc corolla? Or would something like Shell Helix Ulta 5w40 be the more viable option

I checked and Quartz 5000 seemed to only be in 10w40 option. I do want to upgrade from the suzuki engine oil, and am willing to pay the extra premium amount for a reputable engine oil, if fully synthetic would even be a viable option.

it would be perfectly fine to change to any fully synthetic oil.
owner manual suggests 10w40, but you can safely use 5w40 too for that matter. No problem at all. 93 thousands isn't that much of a mileage for the car's engine if it is well kept on regular oil changes.

and while you are changing engine oil, i hope you've changed it's transmission fluid also. cause engine and gear oil is the basic thing we should change right after buying a used car because we do not know whether previous owner has EVER changed it or not : )

so if you have a manual car, get 75W90 gear oil changed for it too.

I think you should keep using 5W30 grade if engine is perfectly fine and may move to synthetic ones like total or shell if desired. Quartz 9000 Energy 5W30 is an excellent option available in market. For transmission fluid, Liquimoly High Performance Gear Oil (GL4+) SAE 75W-90 or any other reputed oil may be viable...

Use Shell Helix 5W30 engine oil else Total 5W30. Change it at every 5000kms with oil and air filter.

Both are reputed brands, but I think Total Quartz 9000 Energy 5W30 is more viable than Shell Helix HX7 5W30, former being synthetic and later being semi synthetic. But Shell has option of Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 if you want to shift to synthetic one with viscosity of 40...

Go for SGO Efficient 5W30 (semi synthetic made by Total) or Total Quartz 9000 Energy 5W30 (fully synthetic). 5W30 is good to go with Suzuki Swift

Thanks for the clarity. I'm inclined towards going for Quartz 9000 5W30 as well, keeping the same grade. The engine doesn't have any issues

I recently purchased a 2019 Suzuki Swift (automatic) with 76,000 km on the odometer, mostly driven in Islamabad. The company-recommended engine oil, as stated under the bonnet, is 10W-40, and Suzuki’s official workshop also recommends the same, offering a 10W-40 semi-synthetic option. However, many people suggest using 5W-30 or 10W-30 instead.

I have a few concerns:

Oil Viscosity for Summers: Considering Islamabad’s summer temperatures exceed 40°C, would using 5W-30 or 10W-30 be problematic compared to 10W-40?
Semi-Synthetic vs. Fully Synthetic: Given that the car has been previously run on semi-synthetic 10W-30, is it advisable to switch to fully synthetic oil now? Would this affect the engine’s performance or longevity?
Best Oil Brand in Islamabad: I want to use a high-quality, imported oil. Some people say that brands like Total and Shell are locally manufactured. What are the most reliable imported options available in Islamabad?
Liqui Moly Consideration: I’m open to using Liqui Moly despite its higher price, but only if it genuinely offers added benefits for engine longevity and driving performance. However, fully synthetic Liqui Moly seems to be out of stock, with only semi-synthetic options available. Should I go for it, or consider another brand?
My priority is engine longevity, better fuel efficiency, and an overall smoother drive since I plan to keep the car for the next 2–3 years. Based on these factors, which oil type (semi-synthetic vs. fully synthetic) and viscosity (5W-30, 10W-30, or 10W-40) would be best suited for my Suzuki Swift in Islamabad’s climate?

5W-40 fully synthetic, all season oil. using same in my swift from day 1,

Initially i started from Liqui Moly 5W-40 with drain interval of 8,000 KMs with genuine Suzuki Oil Filter. Used Liqui Moly for 4 years up to 80,000 KMs,

After that due to hike in Liqui Moly prices I switched to Valvoline 5W-40 and using that till current ODO 160,000 KMs with same drain interval (8,000 KMs) and Genuine Suzuki Oil Filter.
