Suzuki Alto Lapin as First Family Car

We are actively looking to buy a JDM Suzuki Alto Lapin for a family of 5. The intended usage is inside city for school drop and pickup and usual home shopping stuff and occasional travels on GT road. We never owned any vehicle earlier, not even motorbike and basically total newbie and even 4 persons will learn driving on it as well:). We don't want to buy Mehran or any other manual transmission vehicle. We are not worried about resale value as we will keep it for next 5-6 years (if it does not create maintenance issues). So we need your input regarding its maintenance and spare parts availability. Since it also belongs to Alto family and soon PKDM Alto will also be available so will their parts will fit in JDM Alto Lapin as well?

Best wishes for getting a new ride..but Lapin is certainly not a Friendly model from maintenance point of view. With increased import duties..it will be too heavy on ur pocket incase any parts are required. Sincere advice would be to get a cultus AGS and live in confort. Ags will have more economical life cycle for you and will be 100% new... Baqi i would suggest to learn basic drivinv before using new car to avoid any mishaps and financial losses. Lapin never made a market and parts are just not available readily...

Alto and Alto lapin are both different...as already said above that lapin cud not make the market, i wud suggest the normal jdm alto if u are interested in jdms only

Cultus AGS is good option too but if u can wait 1 2 months for local alto ags then go fr that

Yes 2 months is waiting period ..own is around 64k as per lats updates. Still AGS build quality is much better in Suzuki lineup and car is very efficient in fuel consumption part.

Yes, already took classes from a driving school and went on main roads with teacher but still need practice and mostly will drive in our society only for very first month.

For upcoming Alto, are Suzuki dealerships making bookings or it will be announced later? I prefer to wait for local Alto AGS but cannot wait for long, feeling paralyzed without ride.

Does it make any difference if my driving license/number plate is from a different city?

As such koi farak ni parta but u knw punjab police.. no. Plates of ISB and LHr are prefered
License is a must. Otherwise u may be challaned on ring road n motorways etc

a 660cc car as a family car is not a good idea at all.
It wont be economical, it wont perform well and will have pathetic air conditioning(when used with 5 on board).
Since you don't want a manual. you can either go back ten years and buy an auto city, or look into an auto swift if fuel average isnt an issue

AGS is simply the best auto small.famy car available as zero meter. Its even smoother and silent than vitz 1.0 and will give u trouble free operation for atleast 4-5 years with regular oil changes and waterlevel checking. Avoid any 660cc

Buy a Cultus. It won't need any spares for 3-4 years unless you hit it somewhere. Any part needed would be installed brand new from dealershiP.
And you buy a Alto or any JDM car you would be visiting junkyard for every part bcz nothing is available new. Which would not be feasible for you.
Personally I would recommend first buying a old 70 80s Toyota rear wheel drive cars and practice on it. You would not have any tension if you hit it somewhere.

My Lapin 2015 is giving me excellent fuel economy with AC within city, however I am facing only one issue & that is, when I am accelerating from idle (Maybe 1st gear) there is a big jerk in the car, after that it runs smooth, until again car decelerate to the lower gear & so on..

Sir, I purchased the car not long time back, few days or maximum 2 months ago.
I only changed Engine oil, nothing in terms of transmission.

However I inspected transmission oil, it is not low & is red in colour, doesn’t seem like it is dirty or burnt. Looks very fresh.

Best to have it professionally accessed and changed if there is even the slightest doubt.
The on/off could be idle stop(just guessing)
