Starlet 82 build

Dear Fellows,

Just curious to know if we can get the Toyota Starlet 82 rear wheel hooked up with a
front wheel engine 4efe efi

Is it possible ?
If yes then how ?
gear required to covert from front to rear ?
mounting of which car ?

As both the car and the engine its self is ready for swaps so experts please recommend

1-Yes it's 100% doable, people install 3S-FE, 3S-GTE, blacktops and silvertops in RWD cars, those are all FWD engines installed longitudinally in RWD configuration. I've seen a 7A-GE (7A-FE block with a blacktop head) in a KE30, 7A-FE in a KE70, 4E-FTE in a KP60 and numerous 4A-GE and 3S-FE in Corollas and Starlets and whatnot. All these are FWD engines mated to either T-50 or WXX boxes.

2-4E-FE will be expensie to get and will not have enough oomph. Go for a 4A-GE, any version will do, these are cheaper nowadays. Mate it to a T-50, get compatible diff gears and you're set. Beware though, T-50 for 4A engines are harder to find.

Could you tell me T-50 normally comes in which car as i have to find a local market, could you suggest me what to ask the market people as there prices shoots up as they hear it is from corolla and if you ask them the same stuff as a reference of corona the price will go down its a fact and i have faced these kind of situation several times as all of us might have observe these.

I'm looking for one too, for the last 6 months or so, haven't found one yet. It's the one that comes in AE-86 or so I have heard. Let's wait for SER_GTR's feedback on this. T-50 was also available in Coronas I think, but that version has 20 output splines which is weaker. The one that you would want has 22 output splines, that comes in the AE-86.

As SER_GTER said, you can even hook up a K50 tranny with your 4E-FE. You might have to get an adapter plate fabricated though, but that can be done easily by a good fabricator.

If by 86 you're referring to the FWD EE86, then no you can't use it's gearbox. You can use a T-50 from the AE-86 which was RWD. You can even use a normal T-50 as most 2C diesel converted RWD cars use that.

If You Look Around..There Are Countless Threads Regarding RWD Conversion.....Have Ample Of Info There But Still I Am Adding Here Also

4EFE Can Be Used With K-Series Or T Series RWD Trannies.....You NEed To Fabricate Adopter Plate In Order To Mount....Easily Done...But Need Someone SANE To Make It Work Right...!

The Next Thing Which Might Bother You Will BE Dizzy And Water Lines Routing...Water Lines Can Be Done Easily....For Dizzy....I AM Sure 4EFE Will Fit With Enough Space Left To Firewall Clearance.....Best To Find Last Gen 4EFE With Coil Packs ..Solves Your Clearance Issue...Relocate Coils ANd Ur Done...!!

For Diff.....If Your STock Diff Is In Good Condition....It Can Be Used For 4EFE..Else Upgrade To Some Better ..Need To Find Right Match..! Else Stock Will Work Just Fine Also...!!

FWD Box Can't Be Used In RWD Conversions.....however In Some Other Conversions..People Swap/Use Bellhousings Depending On Swap...!

K-50 came stock in KP starlets and KE70 Corollas, so there is a high probability of you finding one in good nick.

I can give you a short ride in stock kp60. but yr far . it has k-40, open diff. light weight.no power steering but steering is easy when car rolling. I use 155-13 tire. recently steering rebuilt. front shocks brakes replaced, engine 3k rebuilt, rear KYB gas shocks added, suspension links seems to be ok, I stripped carpet, checked every corner if any rust repair and fixed driverside floor. windscreen had leaks from rubber. replaced, and I did silicon fill up myself. re enforcement of engine cross member frame points. no paint work done . car running smooth. first gen kp60 round headlight. 2 gen kp60 rectangular headlight, 3rd gen tilted front grill, plastic bumper and different shape bonnet... kp60 parts are slightly smaller than ke70 corolla - on piece (shock brake caliper unit). t-50 transmission. 3au engine etc will fit you will need to convert K engine mounts to A engine mounts. 4age16v rebuilt will be a good swap. but you may also need stronger driveshaft not just transmission, driveshaft must not ignored. it is very impt part. front wheel engine have air intake on wrong side when fitting in rearwheeldrive so you have to get some professional setup. like itb
