Single Phase Vs Three Phase Electricity Meter -- Help

What is the difference between Single Phase Vs Three Phase Electricity Meter ??
I have seen many houses in my streets who are using Three Phase Meters and few houses using Single Phase meters. People told me that three phase meter consumes too much electricity as compared to single phase

Anyone to comment on this aspect ???

Single phase mean your are getting electricity by one wire, three phase mean you are getting electricity by three wires. It depend upon your house load if your house load is simple a fridge, a tv, a water pump, even a 1.5 ton ac then single phase is enough. For heavy load i.e two acs require three phase meter. Now a days there is voltage problem and three phase connection provide better voltage.

Single phase and three phase consume same electricity on same load.

Digital meter count even 6 watts energy saver, while analog meter ignore the load upto 60 watts depending upon meter condition.

single phase meter bill is less. dont know the logic
maybe probably you cannot switch anything on, on that stupid meter, hence low bill

As I have seen on my single phase digital meter, 3200 blinks per kilo watt hour and on three phase meter it was 1000 blinks per kilo watt hour. From this it seems 3 phase is moving fast.

Yes, old analog meter was better, one more myth is common that generally these digital meters runs fast as compared with their analog siblings ..

I think single phase is for loads up to 20 amp, while three phase is for loads up to 100 amp. There should be no difference in how either meter measures electricity consumption. And also since three phase uses three live wires, so even if one or two phases are down, you can still get power on the phase that is running.

In peshawar they replaced 3 phase analog with digital one, everyone here is complaining for high bills, and single phase are still on analog and their bills are normal, i heard from wapda guy that in digital meter usage between 7pm to 11pm is @ Rs.13.5 per unit and rest @ Rs.8(something). while in analog or single phase its different, in single phase ist 100 units are @ R.s4.5, another 200 units @Rs.8.4 and all above 300 units are charge @ Rs.12.5

I agree with ur statement about unit charges of single phase digital meter . I was having analog meter and replaced it to digital ,but SDO told me don't run heavy things from 7 pm - 11 pm u ll see the change and when i did it , surely if single phase digital meter may be used as per mentioned timings then it works efficient than analog .
Digital single phase meters are best for those homes having 2 Acs and other appliances coz in normal analog meter with following load avrg units consumed in summer are from 500-550.

my ups is getting neautral from single phase and live from 3 phase but still when I use the UPS extensively , bill on the single phase increases whereas it should be increasing on the 3 phase as the neutral is common from same transformer. any logic?

PS had no other choice but to wire it like this as the ups units for both ground and first floor are installed on first floor and first floor is powered by single phase but like other equipments we had to put ups units also on 3 phase so what I did was to power the line of the room where ups is installed from 3 phase and it was done in the main board. so I had no option to power it with neutral from same meter so common neutral of first floor was used which is coming from single phase:$

In The End.....3 Phase Meter's Are Suitable For Load Divided Upon 3 Phase Whereas Using single Phase Stuff Is Just Gonna Make It A Bit More Faster On Heavy Load SIngle Phase

Its simple 3 phase metre is for those House which have more load .. more load hence more bill... single phases user are those users that have less load less load hebce less bill... it has nothing tp do with the metre being single phase or three phase ....
And yes every new generation or metres are faster then their predecessor in the sence they can detect less load and record them old metres ignored small readings like the reading if the soo called zero ka blub...

changing rates at different times is not possible on analog meter, so they introduced new digital ones...

those people who think their meters run faster can install another meter inside house and compare kw-hr readings on wapda meter and their own meter. I don't think there will be a difference.

got single phase meter and wadpa was asing 33K for 3 phase
bought a 3kv gen instead light to mille
as in my area some issue was there till july some phase dim some not and some were off \

3 phase is best when u divide the load equally on all phase else ur bill will shoot if whole load is on one phase
on single phase u cant run more than split at a time where as in 3 phase u can

digital meters records units separately for peak hours, 6pm-11pm. and so they appear and charged separately on bill too
