Should I buy non PTA phone for use outside Pakistan?

Aoa guys. I am going to Austria in September for my studies and I am looking to buy a new phone. I was thinking of buying a non PTA approved iphone as it costs lower than a PTA approved iphone. Can anyone please guide me as if the non PTA device will work fine or if there is any issue with this or if you have any other suggestion? Thanks in advance.

The non pta phone would work fine all over the world. It is only in Pkaistan that you will have to pay custom duties on it to have it PTA approved.

However, I would strongly suggest you to buy the phone locally in Austria with a local sim package. This would be even cheaper than a non pta iPhone in Pakistan and you will always have local support in Austria should a problem arise later on, or if you decide to sell and upgrade, that would be easier too.

You could try and Google beforehand to see what are the current deals in Austria and which network operator would be best for you.

You shoud buu non pta and sell it at full price in austria as you dont have to pay duty and it is a fixed price

my brother is in Brazil, his all 3 phone blocked exactly after 6 months and an additional grace period of 40 days..
now need to register with local telecom authority, caz after 6 months u r not really a visitor category person..

so, if u r staying in australia for longer period of time, something similar can happen with u, so take the right advice and get a fone from there, u can bring ur current device with u, it wont harm anyone..

W.S. Brother instead of getting in to buying a PTA approved / not-approved mobile phone set from here locally, I would sincerely suggest to buy from the country, where you plan to stay, like Austria in your case.

You might be able to get excellent deals from there, both in brand new and used.

May be, here in Pakistan, you might be able to get a good deal, however, for some reason or the other, if that cellphone gets locked in Austria, or 3G/4G/5G bands / frequencies, etc. do not match with the ones in Austria, then you might land in troubles.
