Shell Helix HX5 10w40

Hello,

I had initially put in Shell Helix Ultra 5w30 in my Belta 2007 model when I purchased it in August, 2012, but today changed it after 8 months as it had done about 4,100 kms. The oil was not in that bad condition but still i replaced it due the the duration.

I replaced the oil with Shell Helix HX5 10w 40 due to the hot summers here in Pakistan as 5w30 is quite thin and unnecessary for this weather.

After how many kms or months should I replace it? I also used the local air filter and plan to replace it every month. Is that ok?

Would appreciate feedback please.

after every 5k kms with oil filter is perfectly fine for ur car

but dont exceed six months for oil change and its better to change it after 3500kms

Thanks salik and 5555, I just realised that Belta manufac recommendation is 5w 30 but I have used 10w40 will it make an difference in performance or on engine life?

belta is jdm cars...in japan the weather are not same as our climate....u ll be fine with 5w40 or 10w40....later changed it to 5w30 in winter

10w-40 is more viscous than 5w-30.
Plus points: engine will be slightly less noisy. Suitable for hot summers of Pakistan. Less Price.
Downside : Slightly less fuel economy.

Why do you have to change air-filter every month ?? thats waste of money. Replace it at every oil change.

Hi rizkhan Thanks for the info. I thought 5w30 was more viscous as its thinner. The reason I wanna change the air filter every month is I put the local one available from the Shell petrol pumps which is just Rs.350 so it wont hurt plus new filter easier engine breathing
