Rubbing Compound to remove Swirl Marks

Hi Guys !

I hope you are doing great!

I have Silver GLi 2015 (pre-face lift ) . My car is neat but there are lot of swirl marks specially on roof and bonnet those are prominent in Sunlight . Yesterday I went for car wash and the guy told me to get done Compound job ( with hand as he said with machine the result not good) . The procedure he told me that first they will just compound my car then wash it with shampoo then normal polishing/wax .

My questions are :

1) should I get this job done because this will be the first time I will do compound my car .?
2) The swirl Marks will be removed after that ?
3) After compounding , there will be any paint protection issue or devaluation of my car for selling point of view ?

No such issue. Go for it.

First of all swirls cannot be removed by hand..you need proper machine compounding/polishing depending upon swirls with cutting/polishing pad. Hands cannot do paint correct the way it's meant to be.

If done properly this adda to car value and not reduce it. Car wash guy is suggesting hand compounding because he doesn't have machine and the skills. Rotary polisher used by a novice can damage paint. Don't go for fazool sastay xompunds...get it professionally detailed..save your car

I can feel surface is rough . I tried paste wax (formula 1) after wash it added some shine but not much difference . I want some shine like below after fresh wash :

I know there are not much scratches and swirl marks but still some swirl marks which can be seen with naked eye .

If u want top class work goto luxe auto spa. Ofherwise, visit mr wash in johar town. They are good

I went to Mr. wash for compounding and Polish. Their procedure is :

Wash --> Clay --> Compound

Cost : 6000 Rs .

Charges seems high . Can I use Clay myself ( I have one from Ali xpress ) after washing and after that I can use normal polish wax ?

Charges are fine. U can certainly do it at home but need equipment worth 25k and also skill... which needs practice.

Polsihing pads are expensive and ordinary compound xan damage paint. U need optical grade compounds...and polishes......also don't experiment with car's paint if u don't know hoe to use a polisher. Detailing stuff is expensive and having stuff of 30-40k is normal with most causal detailers

I went to Mr. Wash for compound . I was charged 6,000 Rs. for 3-Step Compound Package which includes Clay , Ultra Cutting Creme, Anti hologram and ultra polish, then Silicon ceramic wax after washing .

Keep waxing it every week with collinite 845. Avoid dry dusting..always wash with ph balanced shampoo.meguirs ultimate/nxt are very good
