Planning to buy suzuki liana. Need honest opinions please

Avoid CNG liana

But most lianas came with CNG kit from factory or was fitted with aftermarket kit.
As it was launched in the era of CNG.
I recently sold mine, it was a 1.6 auto never driven on CNG and it stayed healthy even after 250,000 kms of road use.
It is a reliable car if it gets maintained properly.
But no matter what you have to replace the ignition coils after every 15 to 20,000 kms no matter what.
Once the factory coils go bad you cannot source good quality coils.

It is indeed reliable....but unfortunately all the lianas i have come across specially cng lianas and others here can also comment, that almost all the cng lianas were trouble cars ruined by local mechanics as it was not well kept...this is 1 reason i asked to avoid cng

2nd reason is related to where u said ur car lasted 250k on petrol...why? Because engine is made for petrol not cng...so the 2nd reason to avoid cng as per me is that cng is a forced fuel for a petrol engine and bound to destroy it much before petrol would.

I do agree the CNG ones are nothing but a headache
Ruined by mechanics
Basically the coils go bad on CNG and mechanics advice you to go for external coils from another car brands engine
This is not the solution

We have kept 3 Lianas in family, I grew around a Liana and learned to drive another one, then I had another Liana for my personal use. Each of those cars was driven way above 150k mark. Reliable machines once you take care of certain things and maintain them periodically. Drove them mostly on CNG. On CNG it used to do around 100-120 kms with ac on a full cylinder in city while it went up to 180-190 kms on highways. On petrol, city average 2ould be anything between 11-13 kmpl, while on highways one could easily get 14-16 kmpl.

If you decide to buy a Liana, do not cheap out, buy a well maintained one even if you have to pay a little more than the market price. Cheaper Lianas will give you hell of a time.

Take care of certain things like:
1- No matter what, never wash its engine.
2- Be careful while driving on rough terrains, suspension parts are expensive and not as sturdy as hondas or toyotas.
3- Keep a track on coolant level and all other parts of cooling system, change when its necessary. Once the engine heats up the gasket is probably gone on this model, and I have never yet come across any trustworthy mechanic who would restore the engine back to its original specs without messing it up more.
4- No wiring jugaars.
5- Never ever do these things; Remove thermostat valve, running the fan direct rather than on auto or use water in the system.
6- Never use 20w50 grade oil.

There are other things as well which probably apply to all the cars irrespective of make or model.

Maintain it periodically is simple, just follow the owners manual. Do not experiment with oil grades. Use genuine filters. Replace all the fluids when necessary.

Moreover, it is a sedan. No matter how cheap you buy it for, be prepared to spend on its maintenance as much as you would on a city or a cowrolla. People forget its a sedan which competes with city and corolla, owing to its purchase price they think its like a mehran and try to maintain it like one.

Liana is a great car. I own 1.6 Eminent variant and the experience is good so far. I would suggest you to go for it but keep in mind the CNG variant would be a pain in the a$$
