Restoration of 1977 Corolla Coupe ( KE-35 )

Dear all,

I have been looking for a restoration project for a while now and got one option of restoring 1977 Corolla Coupe Ke35
i need sincere advise as the car is worth doing restoration , i need feed backs , recommendations anything that could help me out specially from those who have the car in person or in family who could share their feedback .
the owner is demanding 300k for the car and is not ready to negotiate at all i have no issues to pay off the price just need PW members sincere advise
looking forward for a very positive response !

for 300K I would be expecting the car to be in supreme tip top shape and a person to wash the car for a month too.

The Car is not in that bad condition , needs complete body work and paint job , interior is neat and clean and stock ! Mechanically its in good condition , engine was overhauled and done only 37000km , Suspension is good , not to my standard but its ok will be taken care off..
but over all not in supreme tip top condition as you said

if a car needs complete body work and paint job you are looking at some thing near to 1 lak for a bake paint....

idiotic decision to spend that much...

the car should be worth no more than 1.5lak..

300K for a 77 coupe corolla requiring body work is a bad deal for my money, Cant say about your money - bodywork on a car is the MOST expensive item on the bill.

I agree to you both .... car is not worth what owner is demanding
But as i said eralier i dont have any issues to pay off 300k ,
as its a collectors item as Ke 35 Coupe are very few in pakistan i have seen only 3 so far
i am concerned more with your valuable feed back on the performance of car is it worth spending this much !

performance? what do you want to do with it? drag with it? drift it? or just daily drive?

as far as being collectors item is concerened... shok ka koi mol nahi... but then consider that if you pay a ludicrously high amount for this car you will not be able to sell it for the same or even slightly lower amount...

i would get a normal 4 door khoka of a 76 corrola... and do a complete rebuild... provided there is not excessive chassis rust.. it would cost you at the max 3 lac... for a fully rebuilt car.

But whenever i should drive it should be a pleasure drive thats what my concern is

Looks like you've got your heart set on this car, just go ahead and buy it. The trim peices would be the hardest to find so whatever the denter removes, please keep it with you. Keep all the parts with you and do not leave anything with denter/painter.
