Recovery from Hail Damages

Dear Pak Wheelers,

It happened on last Sunday Morning at ISB when seemingly a nice shiny day abruptly covered by dark and thick clouds and within minutes there was a hail-storm with merely lemon sized hailing (olay) supported by thunder storm for almost half hour. The intensity of storm was so high that wind/rear screens of many cars parked with mine got cracked !!!

My new GLI now looks like effected by "Chickenpox "....very small dents!!!

Please help me out of this situation with most effective solution....

Wow, extremely bad luck. There was a similar situation In Melbourne couple years back that affected many cars as it covered a huge distance.

Most cars were written off as insurance companies deemed them too costly to repair.

Some tired using dry ice but that doesn't do much if at all. Another method used was using some sort of suction tool, don't know the technical name. But these are what if methods.

The only perfect solution would be to have it properly dented (probably filled with primer etc) then resprayed. Won't be cheap of course. Besta luck.

I drove out of ISB at a insane speed just yo get away from the bad weather as I was in my new altis....the dents can be removes by dry denying but you need to find a very good and experienced denter....

I feel for you buddy. Same thing happened to my new civic - the same hailstorm this Sunday morning. Even though my car was parked inside, the tilting angle has caused 4-5 dents on the trunk and one on the roof as well.

Unfortunately there's no really effective solution. Trust me, I have looked around. Almost a year ago, same thing happened with my brand new corolla as well. Couldn't find any effective solution. You just gotta live with it. Don't try any denter etc. Just live with it. And for next time, keep a good thick car cover with yourself. It helps minimize the effect. The hails are not that heavy but their velocity with which they hit is just too much, which causes the dents. A thick car cover can absorb the impact somewhat.

PDR is very expensive here ( Dentdoctor NY paintless dent repair, new york dent repair, dent repair,auto dent repair, dent removal ) and if the damage is like the one what happened to my neighbor car, it will be written off by insurance as you mentioned.

That's what happened with me !!!
So guess nothing can be done in this case..
So how about insurance claim for such cases in pakistan.
Either my car is insured but it is mentioned on the policy papers no claim for act of God---reminding me Bolly movie 'OMG'

Dont do anything. We cant fight with nature. Yes it feels bad and yes we feel down but still the car is in original condition.

My car was in garage that day but trunk got same marks. I tried to protect trunk with blanket and and a plastic sheet but all in vain. ... how to get rid of them? I have comprehensive insurance but not sure if they cover this or not. can someone recommend me some denter in isb? Or replace trunk?

A bit late reply but there is one person who can fix this Hailstorm issue in twin cities without any problem. My car was also badly damaged due to hailstorm and I got it fixed. The denter did a very very excellent job. car is back to it's original condition.

Denter name is Ejaz and he sits behind RABI centre near 6th road. A very reasonable man He is.

He nearly took 2 weeks to fix my car and charged 17k for roof,bonnet,trunk,fender and one rear left door and believe my guys, end result was worth the time and money. If you guys want to be sure about the job, Hit me a PM and I ill show you my car. you cannot even judge that car is dry dented.

One technique to save your car if hail storm starts is to open the bonnet and boot. When open, the bonnet is at a 45-50 degrees angle and the impact of the hail will be much less. Do the same with boot. For the roof, just cover it completely with your floor mats. This will save your car from alot of damage inshaAllah

You can get the dents out through PDTs (Paintless Denting Techniques). However, that would require specialized tools. Although its unlikely to cause much remedy if the depression is vertically 100%+ of the sheet metal thickness. Use a straight-edge for that.

That is a lot of damage. Live with it and sell the vehicle. There is no point in repairing it in a country where this condition will rather fetch you more in re-sale.
