I made the radiator fan of my car direct instead of automatic. Now it always keeps running and does not depend on the thermostate. As a result my car's engine is always cool. is it safe to make it direct instead of automatic? it is Suzuki Mehran.

I have seen some people who make the fan direct in summer and automatic in winter. But a mechanic once told me that keeping the fan direct throughout the year is wrong. What is the reasoning here?

well i have seend like 80% of mehran users keep their fan direct .. for me its not recommended .. it reduces ur fan motor life and also ur car engine temp does not keep an optimum tempreature...

i always keep my car fan automatic ..

who gave you the idea of constant running cooling fan?

In summer it is ok to keep the fan direct as Mehran might have heat up problems especially on long journeys. In winter however it is most advisable to keep the fan direct. There are two reasons for that :

1) Your car's engine will never reach it's optimal temperature (i.e the pointer will never reach middle and will be near C ) you might feel jerks and the car will do missing due to cold engine.

2) Secondly your heater will not be effective as it depends purely on the engine temperature. Due to cold engine it might take quite a while before it starts throwing warm air or it might not do that at all.

Note:Both points are based on personal experience.

so its compulsory for the temp needle to be in middle ?????coz if it is then i am going back to the automatic fan...coz in summer when there is temp almost 48 50 my car shows only 30 percent coz of my radiator or( 3 naali radiator )

yes - otherwise you will severly reduce the engine life - engine oil needs to be hot to function - as it boils off steam, if it wont - your crankshaft journals would live a very short life.

sir which components are needed to make fan automatic in my car fan is always direct so i need to know which things i would be needed to make it auto coz on the last oil change the crank shaft is making noises but after oil change its gone..thanks

thermoswitch is also called thermostate valve?
where it is located in the engine ? the engine is carby cultus 3cyl engine.

thermoswitch is not a valve - its a switch with 2 wires in the mehran and its in the lower tank of the radiator.

3 naali wala radiator hai phir kiya zaroorat hai direct karnay ki, keep it automatic its better for your engine.

thermoswitch is a looks like relay type thing?
where is thermostate valve located in engine ?
sir sorry if ur gettin disturbed frm my alot of questions..all i want to seek knowledge...thanks..

the valve is at the place where the top radiator pipe connects to the engine, the switch is a plain screwed on sensor with 2 wires in it, its at the bottom of the radiator.

Fan should be automatic. To keep your car cool, use 2 pipe or 3 pipe radiator, coolant in radiator and high rpm radiator fan in mehran and even in cultus.

thanks alot brother...
if u can post a pic of it would be wonderful...

If its a mehran forget anything to be automatic.
the simpler the better.

I call it the "Direct Plug and play" !
