Prius 2010 ABS problem

I have been driving Prius 2010 for almost a year now, recently i have started facing problem with the cars ABS systems.

While driving all of a sudden the ABS and handbrake dashboard lights turn on and the brakes stops working, then on its on they turn off and all work as if nothing wrong, the mechanic advises to replace ABS system with the new unit, which very expensive.

Can anyone advise me of a good ABS expert in lahore?

will appreciate any good advise or help that I can get

Please invest in a better car which is a pkdm and understood by dealerships so.you dont get sleeoless nights with new lights in meter everyday.

Jdm.cars are pain in bum to maintain in pak.

It may not be a problem with ABS system. It's a known issue with Toyota and lexus of 10 odd years ago.

When the lights are on, are you able to move your car from parking "P" position? It's quite possible that when you are pressing your brakes, your brake lights in the rear are also not coming on.

I had a similar issue with my lexus RX. It turned out to be a minor part replacement (I think a brake relay of sort from what I can remember) which had failed and the car electronics were going haywire as they were unable to figure out if brakes were properly working or not. The part costed less than £200 for replacement, including labour.

Now I am not saying that is what's wrong with your car but it is a possibility. Google the issue - there's plenty of info on Toyota and lexus forums online.

I went to Toyota Airport, and they simply says issue with ABS system,

I am not satisfied with their answer, thats why I want to consult someone who is a good ABS mechanic

I am also doubting abs sensors or brake brake calipers, however to get that checked I dont wanna rely on just any workshop mechanic.

My main concern is, what I i brought new ABS system and then later we get to know it was just a sensor issue, will really appreciate if someone can advise some really good Prius mechanic in Lahore or ABS specialist

I dont mind buying, but I want to be sure its ABS system and not other small issue that can be fixed at the lower cost

I recently got the brake pads changed, and after that got the car services and tuned up by Toyota Airport Lahore, the problem started 4 days after my visit to Toyota.

There is not other noise, or problem except that all of a sudden the ABS, brake and hand break dashboard lights come up and at that time the brakes stop working for seconds and sometimes if i press the brake pedal the car first accelerates and then the brake comes into action and stops the car.

Once the light goes off, it starts working normal again

Hey, have you changed abs yet?
Just attach a scanner to your car, it will tell you the problem
If its abs problem, buy a brand new assembly

Hello! I know this is an old post. But saw your reference to Lexus RX brake relay. I've recently faced the same issue; all check engine lights are ON and the brakes have lost their power, as in the brake pedal is non responsive ... Did you have a similar issue which was fixed as you mentioned?
