PPF or Ceramic Coating?

Dear All. I am purchasing KIA Picanto A/T in Mercury Blue color. Minor scratches are more visible in dark color vehicles so i am a bit worried about it. After my research i have identified two possible solutions, Paint Protection Film (PPF) or Ceramic Coating. Which one is better?

Paint protection film is a thermoplastic urethane often self healing film applied to painted surfaces of a new or used car in order to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatters, and minor abrasions.

PPF is a more permanent and worthy alternative to ceramic coating but it will cost you an arm and leg.

Ceramic coating can protect your car for one year, with proper car.
But for ceramic coat to be effective you need to have multiple layers applied on exterior paint.
Again you will need to spend alot for it.

If your purpose is to protect the paint from dings, scratches and stone chips, then you should get a good quality PPF.

A ceramic coating will make your paint slick, hydrophobic and shiny but won't save it from swirls, dings and paint chips.

Ceramic coating to me looks like a gimmick only. In lay man terms they simply lacquer coat your car.

PPF sounds better since you know it's a plastic wrap

Were it even half as durable as a lacquer coat it would've been awesome. A lacquer usually lasts the lifetime of a vehicle. A ceramic coat, if properly taken care of, is just an year or two of slick hydrophobic effect ( which a clear lacquer lacks), then its gone.

what happens if their is a major scratch on ppf layer, do i need to reapply ppf everytime in case of major scratches

Most high quality PPF films like the Xpel Ultimate are very resistant to tears by scratches. However, if you do tear it up from a spot then the ppf film on that entire panel will have to be changed.
