Power steering, brake and gear oil for my car

My car just completed 22,000km in 4 years so i decided to get all the oils/fluids changed and to be more specific i recently bought Total gear oil, Guard brake oil, Warco power steering oil and STP fuel injector cleaner and also a Kangaroo rubbing compound from Metro.
After going through many forums now im confused whether i should use STP fuel additive or not? does this really cause problems to the fuel pump? The car is not giving any problem but i want it to be Most efficient! Secondly the rubbing compound is hardest chemical available in market, did i make a wrong choice? Lastly can anyone confirm me that Total gear oil and Warco steering oil is best buy or not?

Thats good but i usually take my car to the 3s dealers and get this work done with their specific oils.

Sir what car do you have?

If its a Honda , its strictly recommended that the coolant, power steering oil and gear/transmission oil should be genuine Honda.

Very correct.
The only thing i dont use is Engine oil (i use Mobil1) rest everything else from HONDA. So goto the dealer and use their lubs. and pls dont use any additive.

doesnt harm the car in anyway. probably 1 bottle to be added with 20ltrs of fuel.

Sir its written in nearly all Honda car manuals that additives are not recommended.

Just use a good quality engine oil, even a Mobil Super or Shell Helix HX7 will run fine.

Surprisingly Honda 3S are using oils from Total (as its a Honda subsidiary now in Pakistan), they are good.

However, all genuine Honda oils and coolants are available from 3rd party importers in market like Plaza.

After getting all the above mentioned oils changed, today i went to Faisalabad via motorway. I added one bottle of STP in petrol equal to PKR 2500 approx, that was about quarter less than full. Believe me guys the drive has changed completely. I got even more better results than i was expecting for a total expense of PKR 4500 (oils plus labour)
when i went to suzuki, the mechanic said that there is no reason to change them so early, everyone was discouraging me.

Use GL4 type of gear oil for your car if its a manual car. Use GL5 if it has a differential. Use any good engine oil (preferably 10w or lower as winter is coming). For power steering i would not recommend WAARCO as i am not a fan of their products. Go buy Automatic transmission fluid (dexron 3 if u can) and use it for power steering fluid.

STP i have found to be really inferior to liquimoly products. You don't need octane boosters as your Honda is probably efi and has a knock sensor to compensate for lower octane fuel. Don't waste money on hi-octane or octane boosters as you don't have a high compression engine in your car to warrant such high octane ratings. If you feel your car is 'knocking' a lot than pre mix 500 rupees of high octane with your regular fuel and you are set. Else your knock sensor will deal with it, after all that's what its there for.

Go get some liquimoly fuel injector cleaner and run that through your fuel lines. STP fuel injector cleaner is not as powerful as its American make (I think) and the fuel there is not as dirty as it is here. Liquimoly is more concentrated and running it in your fuel lines will help clean out your fuel injectors.

Sir you can read the Honda Civic 2001-05 Owner's manual page 213-222.

That also goes true for the new 2006-2010 Civic.

They do make all oils/lubricants all over the world thorough 3rd party manufacturers.

One can loose the power steering, radiator, transmission and brake system if non approved oil is used, many of the 01-05 Civics are suffering from a malfunctioning/leaking power steering and rusty radiators.

Sir you can use one brand for your car, ZIC, they make power steering fluid and brake fluids too and they are all good.

Fuel additives are not at all necessary.

Just use petrol from a shell pump.

Therein lies the answer. If a honda civic prosmatic uses dexron 3 as ATF than it does not matter if he uses ZIC, GS oil or liquimoly fluid which have the dexron 3 rating on it. One does not HAVE to get Honda 'labeled' fluid at more expensive rates when there are cheaper alternatives available without the markup honda or toyota etc charge.

Same with brake fluid. Using DOT 3 instead of DOT 4 may be harmful due to the differences in temp in them BUT one can use any brand DOT4 fluid in their car if DOT4 is specified. Again one does not need 'labeled genuine' fluids at higher prices

It the job of the customer or the mechanic to be knowledgable about these things. Sadly not all are and there are many shade tree mechanics who don't have a clue about these things. If you as a customer are unsure of these things and you feel your mechanic is as clueless (shouldn't be going to him in first place than :)) than its always safer to use labeled boxes at higher rates but be careful. A honda labeled box containing dexron 2 fluid will screw up a honda transmission where dexron 3 is required. So its not all about the names on the box

Sir but why would anyone risk a near 2M vehicle by just saving oil cost.

Even good brands like ZIC, Shell and Caltex are all facing forgery and are repackaged with fake oils.

Finding a good and honest mechanic is very hard these days.

Just curious i own honda civic 2007 manual transmission,57000km on odometer& corolla xli 2010 as secondary . My question is in civic brake fluid level shown very minor low. As toyota genuine dot3 brake fluid is already i have. Is it safe to top it up civic with toyota dot3 brake fluid? .
