Pollen Allergy in Islamabad - Which city should I go to? Please suggest. It's URGENT!

Assalamo alaikum brothers!

Ah! It's that time of the year again. I have been suffering from pollen allergy since the last two years and I am sick of falling sick every year during this beautiful season.

So I've decided to go to some other pollen-allergy-free area of Pakistan for a month inshAllah. I need suggestions from you guys about which pollen-allergy-free city I should go to where I can have some fun for a month. It should have good internet connection as my work requires me to be online.

Is Azad Kashmir a good option? Muzaffarabad? Is it pollen-allergy-free? Please give some suggestions. It's urgent as I have to leave ASAP inshAllah!

Don't know about Muzaffarabad.

You can check the Pakistan Met website. It has a page regarding pollen counts. Currently only Islamabad and Lahore are listed. I think you would be better off in Lahore.

My wife also has pollen allergy. She lived in Islamabad for several years and is currently in Lahore. Her condition has improved greatly in Lahore, although she still has to resort to medication during Feb-Mar.

Thanks for the advise brother. I have been to Lahore too many times so I want to go to some other place inshAllah. Haven't been to Kashmir or Gilgit Baltistan so I was hoping I could go there.

pollen is produced from trees and plants.Muzaffar Abad also has too many trees dont go there.
Karachi i think may be better, since the strong breeze may not allow pollens to settle down (although it has industrial and sea pollution)
however experts may give their opinion in detail.

You can go to murree or any city (50-100 kms away from Islamabad).
keep in mind that paper melbury is the culprit due to which lot of people suffer.
this tree is not present in muree and azad kashmir. Even not present in Jhelum
Lahore is also a good option.
m also planing to go to muree for few days due to this.

Pollen is not related to Greenery - it is due to specfic type of PINE Shrubs in Islamabad & started in lahore in late 80's when the same PINE Shrubs are introduced along side canal & DHA, new schemes towards ferozpur road, raiwind by the then CM Nawaz Shareef.

Thank you everyone. Living in Murree for a month will be too expensive. I think Muzaffarabad would be a better choice as there are alot of places around Muzaffarabad well worth visiting.

Anti-allergic treatment; even the medication for allergy patients has steroids .. these have side effects .. be sure to opt for vaccination if u really need it ... plus take views of patients who have been treated from NIH as generally these patients do not get cured fully or relapse (just my personnel observation based on couple of patients, so i could be wrong)

the guy sitting right next to me at work had severe allergy. he could sneeze 200 times in 15 minutes literally.
he went to NIH and was diagnosed with "perfume" allergy. he took the vacination for 6 months and i cant hear him sneezing like crazy since then

It's pollen from flower..when they bloom...pollen count is high...I suffer when it's really high.. A real pain at times... You can't get away from ... Flowers are everywhere ..homes offices. .. Look for a medical.. Solution ..

my mother was treated at NIH (in 90s) and her condition improved for while then the relapse was there, she still has asthema attacks in pollen season ... so u can judge my faith in NIH but obviously it was quite a while ago now things would be much advance and better ...

on average 1000 patients all over pakistan visit NIH every Monday alone ........
fee....300 for diagnosis......500 for vaccination

private........1500 for test.......25000 for vaccination

Back in 2007 my mother used to suffer from non-stop sneezing early morning. We used to have our home not far away from a busy and dusty road. Took her to NIH islamabad, after relevant allergy tests she was diagnosed with dust allergy. She had to embark on a few months long medication/vaccination course, which somewhat improved her immune system. Her health improved a lot after we moved from that locality. With the dusty environs gone, the stimulus was gone and hence the issue was resolved for 2-3 years.
Recently that non-stop sneezing has reverted back, this time we have been told that perfume is the culprit. Therefore, now for the last 2 years we have a strict ban on usage of perfumes at home. We have to use perfumes in car porch or in the car or keep them in office drawers
Conclusion: In addition to NIH medication (if possible) try to remove the stimulus that triggers allergy.
