Due to frequent, after every 10 minute, load shedding my 5000Watt stabilizer lost one of its relay and couldn't power up my Mr. Slim. My electrician told me to wait for at least four days as he was busier than Steve Jobs and was making more money than Zardari. I don’t have any other stabilizer so I could not run AC and that made me sick. So i went to market to get a room cooler. There were a lot of them available so it was pretty hard to decide which one to buy. It was made even more difficult due to the marketing tactics of the shopkeepers. After spending an hour and walking and asking around every shop i finally decided to buy one cooler.
I bought a PAK FAN [PK-5000 PLUS] cooler. It is big in size, has bigger 20 inch fan, cooling pads and noise less water pump. The most amazing thing is its immaculate air throw. I tested it and found that I could feel the air at least 20 feet from the cooler; that’s awesome. Official specifications state that it is “Droplets Free Air Swing” so it has very less humidity effect in room and cooling is very comfortable. I don’t have thermometer so I can’t really measure how much temperature dropped due to this cooler. But one thing is obvious that the air through is so powerful that it swaps away all the hot air from your room and makes it cool. So it is perfect if you have a bigger room and you don’t have an AC in it. You will realize its power when you have no light as you can run this cooler on UPS because it consumes only 170 Watts while a ceiling fan consumes 150. If I talk about it more then it has a big plastic body which means that you don’t have to worry about rust. The design is pretty decent but the graphics work on this cooler is not impressive though. It has 60 L water tank so you don’t need to fill it up more frequently. This cooler uses “cooling pads” rather than “Khass”. You need to change khass every year but pad works for years. I personally feel that cooling is more with “Khass”. Pak fan is a renowned brand and it makes great energy saving fans. This very trait and brand name of PAK FANS made me buy this. I came with a two season warranty which includes everything from body to motor to fan to pads. I was little shocked at the price because it was higher than every cooler in the market; I got it for 12500 plus 400 shipping charges to my home. All in all it is a Kick Asss product. I give it a score of 8/10. The official website link is:Pak Home Appliances. In this review I have tried to cover most of the concerns of the buyers like which brand to buy? What is the price? Are they effective or not? How much power they consume? And etc. I hope this review helps. Please comment and ask questions if you have any.
looks like a floor standing a/c mr.slim really rocks, i have both models but old one is v effective then new. and it looks pretty slim on wall.
Hahaha nice dscptn of elctrcn
Well i saw some coolers of electrohub and found that the are very stylish and slim and this one look like room reftegirator to me what is khass i am also looking for one??? Is mr slim realy saves electricity ???

It will be more effective if you place it outside the window. The inside coolers are not as effective as the ones placed in windows. The prices have increased very much. Last year, this cooler was for 9800 Rs. I did not buy it as most of the people said that the khass ones produce more cooling affect than the ones having pads. But its nice to hear that you are satisfied with its performance. Its power consumption is quite low which is a very good thing as you can run it easily on UPS.
nice purchase, m a fan of Pak Fan products as well. (oops used the word FAN 2 times )
btw being in Lahore you didn't bought the DESI LAHORI COOLER with RED FAN and KHAS!!!
Nice & useful info
awesome review bro
thanks bro. its ok to use fan two times in a sentence but always use first form of verb after "did". violating this rule is a grammatical crime:P
Thanks dude
thanks aqs29
thankyou sam007lahori coolers are not only bad looking but they produce a lot of noise too. and there air throw is not good. yes khass has more cooling. but this is not a problem as i can get this cooler khussed in just 150rs. the reason of using pad is that its life is 4 to 5 years while a khass lasts only for one season.
all electricians are like VIPs these days, when you call them they are always busy.
khass is wooden noodles like soft mesh which retains water. As cooler fan sucks air in, the air gets cooled by evaporation effect.
Mr slim is best AC and as far as i know my dad bought it because it was only AC in market which used Japanese compressor and energy saving technology. so i think it does save energy.
Hmmmm but in khi room cooler are not so much effective due to humidity reason according to some people..
just install exhaust fan in your room and the problem of humidity will be gone.
So didn't its throw cold air outsite too ??
How frequently you have to change its watter does it require cold water ???
its has 60L water tank capacity so you need to change water every 2 days. and you can fill tap water in it.
^^^You change the water after two days?I have Lahori type of room cooler, its quite big. 32"x32".I don't know its water capacity in litres, but I have to pour 4 water buckets after every 4 hours. But the cooling is really good. It does't have any kind of water leakage, and it doesn't throw water in its air through as well.
You can not see water bubbles in air through naked eye. So how you confirmed that lahori cooler is not throwing tiny air bubbles? For electric circuit appliances, these bubbles are very dangerous. I have lost my Play Station 2 and a desktop PC due to lahori cooler's 'cooling'. Desi is Desi, they dont test it, they dont research and even they dont take and bother customer's feed back as compared to company made coolers.
If you are talking about water vapors then of course the room cooler throws them. Any cooler either desi or other, works on the principle of evaporation and it increases the moisture level in room. Where else do you think the water goes? What I meant was, it does not throw water sprinkles, like some desi coolers do.
