I have a query in my mind I have recently changed OIL of my Corolla 2009 GLI from toyota 20w-50 to Mobil 10w-40 , Do you guys think mobil 10w-40 is the right choice?
It is, but changing it won't be a good idea at this moment, should have stayed on thinner viscosity at the beginning My gli has done 215,000km on mobil special 20w50 Still gives 13 within city and 17 on highway
My advice to you, stick with toyota 20w50, use guard oil filter and air filter. Change all three things at every 5000kms. Doing the same for my gli from last 165000km. It is running all good. If you choose thinner oil at this moment then there might be a possibility that your car will start consuming oil or rupture a seal. It might be running good, let it stay that way. If you follow my advice nothing is going to happen to your engine related to mechanical issue for nexr 200,000kms in sha Allah. I think that's the only best advice and answer to your question.
Hii i have a 2013 model xli i recently changes oil zic 15w40.. odo 65000 .. plzz tel me about good oil and its correct to chose oil series like 5w 10w 15 w with odo reading ??
I used to pour 20w50 in my 2011 corolla. After learning a bit about oils i started using 5w30 fully synthetic and have seen improvement in fuel economy. The engine doesn't consume any oil even after 8k kms. I switched over when the car had already done 60k kms. I suggest you to do the same.
Our zic dealer says ur car odo 65000 and 5w30 is for new car and now he says to put always 15w40 when odo reaches 115k then switches to 20w50.. im cnfused now can i put 5w30 without any issue in engine ??
Believe me 65000km is still new. I've Googled a lot and found that people use 5w30 in engines that have done upto 3 lac kms without any problems. The engine has to be in good nick. These are just myths. I did the switch to 5w30 and my engine is happier than ever. Try this oil and keep checking every 500km if oil level is staying constant or not. If you still have doubts then you can use 5w40 without any second thoughts.
If your engine is in good health and does not leak oil nor consume oil then you can use 5W-40 with this odometer reading. I have a 2011 170,000km driven gli 1.3 and I have been using 0W-40 since 100,000 km and no issues at all, it all depends on engine health not odometer reading. if you want oil that is not too expensive like 5W-40 you can use 10W-40 of any brand you like including ZIC. avoid 15W and 20W oils as they are for very old abused engines which leak or consume oil and they also effect fuel economy little bit.
so use 5W-40 of any brand 1st choice and if you cant then use 10W-40. dont worry about odo reading if engine does not leak or consume oil.
always use original toyota oil filter otherwise using any of these oil will be of no benefit and if you use 5W-40 change oil and filter at 7000km and if you use 10W-40 then change oil and filter at 5000km. or 6 months.
Bro engine is in good health no anay issue at all jst like 0 meter engine.. tell me the good oil zic total shell or other company which is best for 2013 xli
