Hello guys,

I use Shell Helix (the blue one) for my Santro. My driving style is not aggressive but I use my car frequently on long distance.

I was wondering what is a safe interval between two oil changes. Currently, I get it changed at 4,000 kilometers. I am hoping to extend the interval a bit.

Thanks

Fully synthetic will go 10,000 kms, it wot loose its viscosity but because it has a wash ability it will get dirty and will contain particles of engines wear and tear so safe bet is to use that oil for 5 to 6k, changing it before that much running is waist of money.

I use castrol GTX in my 96 khyber and run it uptil 4000 kms. The vehicle has completed about 100K kms and the engine is still in the most perfect condition.

i used shell(the yellow one) for my cuore cng i change every 3000 km coments on this oil and mileage??

i am using shell (yellow one) for my cuore cng and change after every 3000 km ne comments on that???

well this interval (5000-6000 km) is very suitable for oil change in pakistan......rest there r people who change oil frequently while some feel lazy to do the oil change. anyhow i myself change oil at 5000 kms i use cxt..........

@aesthete
You are doing fine. Your driving style is fine but your driving condition is extreme(stop n go short intervals, extreme hot and dust) I suggest do no extend your oil change interval.

According tu my 2.0d 1999 i change the engine oil just after 2000km/h in which air filter, mobil oil filter, diesel filter and engine oil.( pump callibration is must)

Hello!
get it change after every 5000-5500Kms....
replace oil filter with every oil change and use Caltex Havoline......
for CNG use Havoline CNG
Thanxx

Regular mineral aka dinosaur oils, change at 5000km, no point doint it any earlier wasting your money, people who say at 2000km are crazy, they must be sitting at oil changer every month.

For semi-synthetic which are mixed synthetic/mineral oils, go even longer, say 7000 km.

For fully synthetic, change around 5-7000 the first 2 changes, after that you can comfortable go 10,000 or more before change.

If your on cng I believe you can increase all these intervals even longer. Motor oil never "wears out", but the detergents in them degrade and they lose their efficacy. Some people suggest you also change the oil no matter how many km as well but also every 3 months or so regardless of mileage.

Its also best to consult your manual.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions.

Based on the input above, I think I am going to increase my oil change interval to 5,000 kilometers :slight_smile:

My personal experience, smaller the engine=earlier Oil change.

800cc Mehran makes engine oil feel like water after only 2,000 kms, specially the Shell Mineral oil (red/yellow).

On the other hand 1500cc car will need oil change at 4,000kms on same oil.

Fully Synthetic is good for 10,000kms if the car is not too old, its not recommended for cars over 100,000kms and that too done on regular oil. Using Synthetic will remove all the greasiness of years of running from Rings and other parts, Car will start to Smoke !

@Spectra

Which semi synthetic for which car?

@yoboy

Your comparison about oil change for running intervals are right for various type of oils but the periodic interval for oil change are also important as some munufacturer recomend oil change every six month even if running milage is within recomneded range.

advise me on delo 500 or delo gold now known as ,,i have a diesel car,,wat shall be the interval
