Need help with Customs duty calculation on aliexpress order

I'm ordering an electronic part from aliexpress. The product itself is around $100 and the seller is providing Free shipping with the product (obviously his shipping margin is built-into the price).

Typically, duty is assessed on CIF (Cost + Insurance + Freight). So in my scenario, would the customs guy estimate shipping charges and add that to the invoice price before calculating pricing? or use $0 for shipping charges and Insurance?

Ask the seller to mention as low price as possible on the shipment. This will help you.

Its coming via FedEx. Lets assume, If seller mentions $10 for shipping, would customs here reject that for being too low (like they do with item price if its unusually low) and then use their own higher estimate for shipping cost?

there is zero duty / tax for parcel value upto Rs. 5000.00 (or equivalent) for higher values base minimum customs duty is 10% of the declared value.

I'm fine with duty on item itself. It's the shipping, since its free shipping, I'm curious how does the pak customs handle that. Do they go with $0 or do they come up with their own number for shipping, add it to price of the item and then calculate duties on that?

I once ordered a headup display from ali express was around $12.

The seller mentioned invoice value as $100 USD And also mistakenly sent me only one AA battery cell instead.

Althou i received my money back, but wasn't charged anything extra from courier.

I still think, Personal consumption is exempted. Just ordered some clothes worth rs.10,000 from marks and spencer UK, courier guy took rs. 200.

The ban and duty is for commercial imports.

if the price of item & shipping is mentioned separately Pakistan customs will do the calculation over high value. either the freight or the value.

item price: US$ 15
shipping: US$ 25

duty & taxes will be calculated at $25. because babo class empty upper chamber tells them,

Last year I ordered a mini-headless pc to run as a router in my home. Customs detained it, not only I had to pay duty but storage charges as well. It ended up costing more than the device itself! 🤬

for every item shipped from overseas i make sure it is via parcel post. I receive the assessment order / detention notice visit the international mail office. Sit down in front of babu use some cherry blossom intellectually, at tops i end up paying only 30% of what is mentioned over so called customs assessment order. That 30% is inclusive of babu mithai and official customs receipt.
After COVID i stopped ordering online. Daraz is convenient and rupee payment at delivery is far better choice.

Yea most small items I order via daraz or aliexpress/china registered mail. Its only expensive stuff that I don't wanna take a risk with, eg computer etc.

For expensive stuff always use DHL.

They bring the parcel to your door step. Give you receipt of all xyz kharcha which is very minimal as they have all the setting.

Once in my life I tried saving some buck ordering via a local Chinese company. (NICE COURIER)

Customs made a rs.70,000 kharcha and I also had to go in person.

Now even Nice courier forwards via DHL.

Normally such cheap items have no duty. Its usually large/bulky or expensive items that will catch attention of customs.
