Need Help Buying New Split A/c 1.5 ton

Hi guys,

My SPlit AC has died after giving me 10 years of life. I need to get a new split AC but I have no idea about these new Inverter ACs in the market now.

They say they consume less electricity, but they are more prone to failure,and costly to repair because the PCB board has to be replaced.

I am happy to get just a normal Split A/C of 1.5 ton, but i need advice on which brands are good and reliable and have good after sales service.

I would also like to buy directly from the company instead of getting it from a third party shop like metro or packages mall etc.

Any help and tips and advice is very much appreciated.

There are many good brands. I have used Orient, Dawlance, Haier, Ecostar, TCL, Kenwood, Gree... Nowadays the best is Gree but very expensive. I am very satisfied with the performance of Ecostar and Orient.

Go with Orient inverter AC. You will save on electricity bill and have good cooling performance.

The best one in my experience is Kenwood. I recently bought their latest model in 1 ton (Model: 1243S) and in 1.5 ton, 1843S is the latest model available and in my experience, it is the best value to money as it actually saves on electricity up to 75% and has excellent cooling performance as well. I'm quite satisfied with my purchase and save on electricity significantly in comparison with the Orient Split A/C which I was using before, although the cooling performance of the Orient A/C was also very good.

The rest is your choice.

Isn't it harder and more tricky to repair inverter ACs and more costly also?

The room termperature reading on my current split AC reads 31C at peak hotness.

not the room. out side temperature.

if its going 45+ you must get a T3 rated AC.

current models that i know off are Kenwood 1838s and Dawlance Mega T3

The outside temp is maxing out at 40C these days.

What is a T3 rated AC? Is it to do wth how cold it can make the room, or is it about how heat resistant the parts are to withstand outside heat with respect to the external unit.

to be on safer side ...get hold of T3 rated 1.5ton unit if you reside in khi/lhr or areas where temp in summer peaks 40-42+

for colder areas like isb and adjoining...even T1 is ok...

dawlance offers best PCB warrenty(4yrs) with decent models....

T3 is temperature rating of compressors.

t3 compressors are supposed to run smoothly even if outside temperature goes up to 55 degrees celcius.

so they are work really well at normal temperatures.

T1 compressors are supposed to work up to 45 degrees... so at 40 degrees, they are very near their operating limit. so will wear out / trip faster

According to my AC technicians, right now GREE has the least amount of complaints and Haier has the most. Orients often have issues with the PCB (kit).

Gree FAIRY and Pel JUMBO are supposedly amongst the best models right now. Both have T3 compressors.

Panasonic is also being assembled by PEL right now. Also a T3 compressor.

Dawlance T3 is also an option with the best WARRANTY so far, but there are complaints of leakages in the cooling coils which may not be covered under warranty!

orient is in game of developing many complains...haier had higher sales so as complains. amonst few haier is one to sell r32 units replacing almost their all old r410a types.....orient /kenwood had PCB and all kind of faults reported despite few good models

pel jumbo and gree fairy and dawlance mega t3 and TCL t3...all are great units

Bro, don't go for free installation! because anything which is free, they will not do their job fully. Choona laga ky chsly jaingy... Just buy a good brand, do installationt through a good technician who takes 1500-1800 pkr these days. 1500 is a common rate all over pakistan. Before talking to technician, go to a hardware market and buy wall brackets (400-500 pkr) and anchor plugs (6 pieces, 20 pkr each), otherwise the 'paid' technician or 'free' installer will charge you extra 1000 for these things.

I have no idea which compressor is in it. It is a rotary compressor, that's the only info available to me.

Do you know wgat compressor the Haier non inverter Turbo Cool model # HSU 18CFCM 013L has?

Haier is just fine... Its ok as it has proper warranty. Best of luck...

Talk to technician that you have already bought brackets and plugs, so he won't charge you extra.
