[Need Help and Advice!] Civic 8th Gen Transmission Whine

Guys - I need help on a topic that has me depressed.

I bought a Reborn 2011 after alot of savings.... the car's 88k driven with an auto transmission.

I notice that when i am at slow speed (between 0-30kmh) there is a very distinct "whining" noise coming from transmission. I ruled out engine issues because as soon as the moving car is put into "N" the noise disappears. And the pitch of the noise changes with changing gear. At above 30kmph the noise vanishes but comes back when the car downshifts.

In order to rule out ATF issue i replaced it with around 4L of ATF-DW1.

Today i visited Honda Drive-in showroom for assistance, and they literally blew me off saying ke its something inside the transmission which we can not pinpoint nor repair. And your only way is to replace the entire transmission.

I don't understand this... The car is not lacking performance, the gears shift smoothly, the car is not slipping power or anything.

Can someone guide me on what i can do , and any reliable workshop in Karachi who can help me out.

It seems to be a bearing making this noise, most likely your meter has been reversed as it is very unlikely to happen at less than 100k mileage. If you are interested you can contact my mechanic who can help diagnose your problem and fix it. Always go for second opinion from other reliable mechanics as well, your transmission must be opened and fixed.

I am sorry about this as you saved so much for your car and it is giving this problem. You could let it be for a while and get it done later along with other parts.

I get where you're coming from, however based on condition of the car, i would doubt a meter reversal but you could have a point there.

I doubt bearings since bearings usually having a "humming" noise while this is more like a "whine" which disappears at certain gears.

I can understand that yes it will require repair, however Honda Showrooms/Workshops really frustrate the customer by suggesting outrageous things like "Pora gear dosra daal len iska masla samajh nahi arha"

Is the ATF overfilled

Are you sure its the transmission and not power steering pump? Try putting it in P and revving it a bit while you turn u r steering from left to right and vice versa.

Yes bro dead sure. I also checked it during driving. chalte Mai if I Put it into N , then sound disappears .. agar steering pump hota to awaz seedhay chalte Mai nahi ati

I did. Wo power steering pump ka alag shor hai which I recognize....
Gear wali alag hai. It's like a golf car or RC Car

Did u change transmission filter ?

It's an auto. And no light

Ek civic auto has transmission cable.I think fd also has it.did u change transmission oil filter when changing the fluid.does it give jerk effect

I didn't change tranny oil filter... There is no jerk or performance loss. Just a whining sound that sounds like a golf cart or RC car at low speeds

Definitely Change the filter it gets dirty with dirt and debris over time.Then see if the problem goes or not.Test it in 1 and 2 gear to see the sound.
