My Suzuki Mehran DIY Upgrades

Hi Guys,

in 2016, i got my hands on brand new suzuki mehran....intentionally i had no plans to do any modifications with this car as i had two other cars with me at that time.....but gradually as i started using i thought of doing some easy modifications which were cheap and can be done by myself.......so heres the story starts.

1) First pic when i received brand new

Then within few days i took the car and got it seat upholsted with rusty orange colored sweat latherite, suzuki cultus handbrake console and an imported centre armrest which fitted perfectly

2) seat covers pics were taken after one year of usage:)

After installing the seat covers i covered all of its carpet with ragazine to save it from dust
then the next phase was to go for side mirrors. Initially i searched for a different kind of mirrors but couldnt find and somewhere in back of my mind i had these Subaaru J10GL mirrors which i searched and luckily a far friend gave me free from his scrapped car. i painted them and installed right away. the look is squarish but its upto my liking.

3) side mirrors

All these mods were done during the last two years gradually but the pictorial story is combined for u ppl....
Next comes the inner door handles of front door changed as they look meaty. And with that i bought four door lights from magazine lane and installed on door cards which light up when door opens.

Changed the back lights to old model ones as i liked them more

then again changed the front grill to an old model, added a silver suzuki logo. Fitted two reverse lights of suzuki highroof in the grill:) and an after market hood scoop. both the grill and the scoop yet to be matched with the base color.

then a brilliant idea came into my mind to add an ac vent in the dashboard for driver side. As the idea starts there goes a continous bell starts ringing to complete it.....so went to shershah, got vents and pipes from old model dashbaord and done this....

with this modification the flow of ac is better as the driver also gets some cooling.

She got 14 inch rims and dunlop tires (driven just 2-3k) new rims and tires.

Hks sports exhaust with 2 inch down pipe.

Consoles
New ac
Etc.

post the pics of steering as well. and replace the brake light with the one as mentioned in the pic below. u can find this brake light where truck parts are available.

pls also tell whats the diff after down piping.

Here is the steering wheel and gear knob.
Will surely look for the break light

The sound after down pipe is unbelievable.
If car is not near, you cant judge its mehran.

Difference is in mileage, after 14s rims and downpipe and hks exhaust.
But thats acceptable

Im not in favour of sharing price here but just for your idea. Only rims costed me 22k.

Further mods continue by the passage of time......added two headlight bulbs philips rally vision bulbs with complete relay loop. the relay loop is end to end connection without any need of cutting any wires and was compatible with original wiring.

While the car was in use and the most important thing i forgot to share was the installation of booster brakes. because mehran original brakes are like cycle brakes as u have to stand on it to stop the car. So went to my mechanic and installed the brake booster he bought me from shershah which was a bolt on fit without any cutting or damaging anything.

the vaccum was connected with the intake manifold from side instead of using T between the pipe going from head cover into intake manifold.

Nicely done.. the car looks real neat and clean and well maintained.. specially the rear lights and the moded front grill. Do share how did u wired the door lights... And what u asked the people at magazine line for the door lights

Yar wiring is simple. Mehran has only two door switches for light in the front ones. I had to make holes for the rear switches and installed door light switches like the fron tones, then connected all the door lights with the door switch wiring.

You can go to magazine lane and there are shop for old samam, there is one guy names Arif, a nice pathan guy. ask him to give u door lights that are used in old hiace.

he gave me for 04 in 600/- rupees.

Boss it doesnt matter what car it is or how old it is. Its all about doing something different.

Thanks for the info brother. these door lights are a real nice touch. reminds me of old honda accords whch used to have red door lights in the bottom.

doesnot matter what car sir. One should look at the dedication in the work. i have seen people maintaining 70's 2 stroke suzuki pick ups like brand new vehicles.

Or mojhay bhi asa lagta hay jasy hum khud in Mehran walo Ko support kr rahay hain. Chalo zamana qadeem ki gadi ki koi khas bat to honi chahye. Laikin wo gadia Koch or hoti hayn.

Boss i have done some more modification in the dashboard.........basically the evaporator was choked and the ac cooling was diminished. I captured its photo with my mobile beneath the dashboard which was very difficult. i asked the ac guy for cleaning he said that he will remove the system and the original gas will be lost which i dont want so i went to my electrician. with the help we removed the dashboard.

After removing the dashboard we opened the black airbox which revealed both evaporator and heating coil choked.

AAfter that we took the car to the service station and get it washed with pressure very carefully. before washing we covered the ecu box and all the necessary thing where water can enter and damage. after washing clean evaporator shining bling bling.

We then installed everything back to its place as it was before. but before installing i did this........clock installation which was a difficult task.

The result of all the excercise did saved the originally filled gas. the cooling has become awesome as well as the ac has started tripping again as it did when the car was new. Plus the clock is an addition

Yar this clock use to come in FX. it can be fixed in mehran also beside radio in old models. new model comes with new tape and a plastic panel so this clock cannot fit.

this clock is available in rimpa plaza shops...

Yo where can i get that console in Johar town Lahore, and how much did it cost you? How's the quality of it? Should i order it from sehgal motors via daraz?
