My cousin bought an evo 4months back, after 5000 km the check engine lite got on....the Mitsubishi company in oman couldnt figure out y....gave it for check 10 times, all they used to do was restart the ecu so after a day or two the lite used to get turned on again....well then at 10,000 km the catalytic converter broke.... the turbo stopped workin cuz the actuator wouldnt open.

I think the air/fuel mixture ratio wasnt set maybe thats y the unburned fuel melted the catalyst....is this the reason???

i took the car n got the catalyst removed...
now the turbo is also working fine...

Car is Stock....just added a HKS Super sequential Blow-off Vavle (SSQV)

have ordered

Blitz Turbo Timer
Blitz Boost Controller
Cusco Intercooler spray
HKS Intake

With the evo`s stock ECU i cant go more than 1.3bar boost, (after installin the boost controller) so can any1
tell me which ECU to go for??? i was thinkin of the Ralliart ECU w/out restrictions....

I need some ideas for easy HP....

@roadburner, mashALlah sweet ride...bout the checklite im not sure... and about the parts u ordered, they will gain some horses but better wud be to get these things

-dc sports up/down pipe
-greddy axleback catback ti exhaust system
-Apexi AVC-R and not the blitz boost controller (no boost controller like avcr in the market)
-hks intake as uve mentioned
-and most stylish and sleek turbo timer, the apexi pen style timer wich i hav n it rly is fun! givs u 0-60/0-100 times, a/f ratio, choice of countdown upto 10 mins, battery voltage etc

If you're not going for mad upgrades, I'd recommend the FlashEVO software from ECUtek. It re-flashes the original ECU. Thus you'll keep the driveability of the original car, while modifying boost, Fuel and ignition for more power as needed.

ahad is right on everything except for the pen style turbotimer . the apexi turbo timer gets hanged sometimes .
i have an evo8 . im running the stock ecu . apexi avcr boost controller {ahad is right , the best on the market} . hks downpipe with cat delete . cat back exhaust . ARC induction box . walbro 255lph high pressure fuel pump .i am running 1.5bar boost with out any problems
oh and if u are upping the boost u should put in a 255lph hp pump . that is a must if you dont want to take anyrisk with your car . as more boost will require more fuel other mise your car may run lean and/or may cause detonation

and im running 1.5 bars with the stock ecu , dont know about the evo9's ecu . but i think that they are most probably the same {not sure} .. if you need to ask me anything else , scrap me on orkut as i dont visit pakwheels that much .

what do you do about the low octanes of the fuel available here? will the stock mapping work with the fuel here? even the high octane is said to be pretty low for the stock map if i am not wrong?

i think the car is in oman not karachi, octane wont be a prob there.
