Today we're back with a test drive review of the MG Marvel R, an electric C-segment crossover SUV. In this short review, we will give you an introduction to this car and a glimpse of what MG has to offer in Pakistan in the future. It's safe to say that the transition toward electric cars is not far away, and in the upcoming years, electric cars will be widely seen on roads. MG has been very successful with its HS and has proven their credibility in terms of sales and acceptance in the local market. Let's get to know more about this electric crossover and see what it has to offer.
Performance
The MG Marvel R is powered by a
70kWh battery with a tri- motor AWD system which pumps out 284hp and a whopping 665-newton meters of torque, enabling the car to accelerate from
0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. All the electric motors on MG Marvel R use hair-pin winding technology, which is more efficient than the traditional method. The rear two motors work separately to ensure maximum efficiency.
Range and Charging
The 70kWh battery gives a driving range of 400+ kilometers on a full charge which is very impressive. This range is what the company claims, and it can differ according to driving conditions. The charging time is also improved along with the battery; on a standard 3-phase 11 kWh charger, it can be charged within 7 hours, while a 90kWh charging power enables the battery to be charged up to 80% in around 40 minutes.
Salient Features
As experienced during the drive, the salient features include a digital instrument cluster, with the main highlight being the vertical center screen responsible for accessing most of the features in the car. It also has heated seats, a panoramic roof, Bose sound system, and mainly the ADAS features, including the MG Pilot system, which has a list of driver assistance features i.e., lane assist, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, collision detection, etc.
When Will It Be Launched In Pakistan?
This particular unit is a left-hand drive model, and right-hand drive units are yet to be manufactured. It is currently in the testing phase along with many other models in MG's electric car fleet, which it plans to bring to Pakistan.
The launch of the Marvel R does not seem near as the company is adapting to the economic situation of the country, but they are hopeful that policies in favour of electric cars will encourage them to introduce their products in the Pakistani market in the near future.
