Mercedes c class 2007 w204 vs Mark X 2004/5, which one to get?

Salam everyone,
Update:
So I did managed to get my honda civic 2017 fixed after replacing the fuel cell and fuel filter.

But this post is more inclined towards two car that I have been eyeing these days, mercedes benz c class 2007 c200 w204 and Mark X 2004/5. I just wanted to take reviews or get to know someone who has got any of these and faced any issues.

Also if someone has kept these cars and can provide a good comparison, I will be more than happy to make a wise decision

Also if anyone is looking to sell their car, based in Karachi, I will be more than happy to visit. The budget is around 3-3.2 million depending on car’s condition and given that these cars are readily available at Pakwheels in this price bracket.

If you're going to consider Mark X, be sure to double check and verify documents and registration etc as alot of them came in ncp.

Well, currently I am driving a honda civic 2017 oriel and I am enjoying it but that car will now be used by my family so I was looking for an upgrade for myself but wanted to keep in the same budget.

Car wise, I like mark x bcz of its power, looks as well as the RWD system.
Mercedes C class, for me, is just pure class, looks, power and RWD system

The main problem is the parts availability and maintenance cost. Now I know that Toyota Mark X will be much easier to maintain but wanted to know whether its the same case with C class as well?

Also wanted a first-hand comparison of drive, costs, taxes and comfort level for passengers, from users as I have never driven either of these cars myself.(ps. Planning to visit showrooms/pvt cars in some days IA)

If you can buy a well maintained C-Class , it won't be a problem . You can buy a W204 in this price bracket. Regular maintenance of C-class is not that expensive and is a little more than Civic . But if you buy a vehicle with bad maintenance history, you will have to replace its parts that will cost you even double than a Civic .

Mark X is a beauty in itself but it is very hard to find a good condition vehicle and their demands are too high. Previous owners have used them in rough activities and many of them are accidented. Many other are NCP vehicles. It's not that difficult to maintain one but it is difficult to find a clean ride .
If I were you , I would have gone for a Mercedes or an old SUV​

Well this is indeed very helpful.

Was looking at some Mark X but they are not clean, either rough used or showered/too many touchups.

Already have a Toyota Hilux so was looking for a sedan.

Have short-listed 3-4 C class and a couple of Mark X, planning to visit on coming weekend. Will definitely update.

Few months ago I was also interested in both of these cars. While I've never driven a W204, I have driven a Mark X. The pros for Mark X would be better parts availability and maybe a better understanding of it by mechanics and that V6 engine, however, there is a risk that it could be abused or be a NCP car. For W204, its the brand image of Mercedes in Pakistan, interior quality which is a bit better than Mark X, but then it sounds a bit more 'risky' in terms of maintenance.

I checked out some Mark Xs listed on Pakwheels and was generally disappointed so turned my attention towards W204. Again checked out a few cars and was also disappointed (maybe there is a problem with my expectations). I was more inclined towards the facelift W204, as it looks a bit better and its interior refresh looks much superior to the pre-facelift. I also had preference for higher power models like C200 and C250 and was fixated on the AMG-line ones because they look gorgeous with the bumper lips, side skirts and the stunning AMG wheels. Also, I've heard that the turbo engines in the facelift are a lot better than the Kompressors in the pre-facelift ones. I did find a couple of cars, namely a facelift C200 and a facelift C250, but somehow couldn't get around to test driving them, hence couldn't close the deals.

Ended up buying a W205, and really happy so far.

Well tbh, I am exactly in the same position as described that both cars are no doubt exceptional but, both have pros and cons.

For me, I have to keep myself in a budget and that is why more powerful/ facelifted w204 is not an option. I have shortlisted some Mercs and will be checking them on weekend In shaa Allah. Will be looking at the service history and will definitely get it inspected bcz I have known people whose Mercs had became a headache for them.

Perfect for daily driving. I had kept both these cars. MarkX 250g used to give me 7-8kmpl & merc 9-10kmpl in city.

250 Mark X and Merc both have around 9 to 10 km per litre of fuel average in local drive .

I'm using my Merc as a daily driver, even though I have a couple of other cars too. Haven't measured the fuel average, but I'm really disappointed that it has a smallish fuel tank, so more frequent visits to fuel station.

I know it's about personal taste, but you must go for the AMG line models, as they look great. But the problem is they sit slightly lower, have a harsher ride and also lower profile tires. Mine is also AMG line and the biggest problem is scraping over speed breakers if I'm not careful - ride is also slightly harsh, but I can live with that.

Tbh, AMG models are around 7-8 lacs more in price. As far as looks are considered, you know plaza has got all body kits

Going to see 1 tomorrow hopefully, 2007 model, 70k driven, full original but color is palladium silver, will surely update over here In shaa Allah

I had good experience with both, MarkX maintainence is bit cheaper compared to merc & parts are not so expensive. Really fun car to drive, can be used as a family car and for some shashka too but 90% of Markx are abused here now. It will be difficult to find good car and a clean MarkX is in range of 3+ million so in my opinion instead of going for Markx get mercedes in same range, W204 shape is really beautiful & It drives great & comfort level is very good 🏻 Only parts & Maintainence will be lil expensive.
