Mechanical vs Mechatronics in Pakistan

I am hesitant whether to apply in mechatronics or mechanical Engg. I searched for both on the Internet and got the idea that neither is superior...some say mechatronics is better because its "the thing of future" and some say mechatronics won't specialize you in one field (as it is partially electric engg. and partially mech engg.) so it won't be a nice option...
I personally dream of inventing robots and automated machines (thats kind ov mechatronics) but one should consider the scope and importance before deciding...

So I want some advice, which one to go for...?

1- B.S - Mechanical then M.S - Mechatronics
2- B.S - Mechanical then M.S - Mechanical
3- B.S - Mechatronics then M.S - Mechanical
4- B.S - Mechatronics then M.S - Mechatronics

BTW ... I've done IGCSE and A- levels... which UNIV in Pakistan is best at it...

If you want to start a career in Pk then mechatronics is a big NO. If u wish to go abroad then it have a very massive scope. Every industry needs it. For mechatronics NUST, Air university and UET are best. Dont know others.
Mechatronics is basically combination of mechanical and electronics. You know both fields and can do MS in any related field

Well it all depends on your interest. If u r into robotics then surely u should opt for Mechatronics. I am an Electrical Engineer from LUMS SSE and the whole curriculum is designed in such a way so as to put in a flavor of all inter-related fields. The courses i have taken during my program range from computer programming to electromechanical systems and some robotics. Many more interesting subjects are yet to come in my final year.
I am of the view that one should have diversity in the undergrad so as to get the taste of various subject areas. Focusing on one particular field and specialising should be left for post-grad.

Well Mechanical BS and Mecha tronica MS would be better IMO. I am grad of Air University and our department was too good for this field. They won almost all competitions they took admission in

i would suggest you to post your IBCC equilence score so that we can give u an idea of what to do cuz that sthe only thing that mattes until and unless u are one studious wannabe nerd

SAT II Physics 780
SAT II Maths Yet to get result..(hoping for bt 700-750)

A-Levels...school mock exams...reputed for being bit harder than original A-levels...

Physics 87%
Chemistry 74%
Math 67%

Currently living in KSA and would apply in universities as an overseas...

depends entirely on how you score in the admission's test. @retardedbuddy will be able to guide you properly about it as he is currently in GIKI.

If you want to do engineering from Pakistan and live here then doing Mechanical and Mechatronics is a BIG NO. If you want to live in Pakistan then only Bachelors in Computer Science (Software Engineering, some universities call it ) should be your priority. I repeat, don't do engineering if you want to live in Pakistan. The only field that is prospering and will always prosper here is Software.

If you are a robotics enthusiast, then try to get admission in universities of USA, Germany, Australia or UK. King Fahad of KSA is also a good option. If money is not a problem then USA should be your top priority. But keeping in mind JOB, try Germany and Australia because you can get work permit over there after bachelors and masters.

King Fahd Uni Intl Ranking = 258
NUST Intl Ranking = 274

According to my Knowledge GIKI is better than NUST in Mechanical Engg.......So I don't understand why the big difference...

Trust me dude, don't go for the Rankings. Don't compare NUST with King Fahd. Ok if you want to compare Universities in Pakistan, I have my own opinion

I here in KSA hear a lot about KFU. People say even though have Professors from the west, there is no competition and the quality of education is not that good. AND they don't admit foreigners in their UNI except the children of their employees.

Well in that case try Germany, Australia, UK or USA!!!

I have no options except Pakistan ... so???..whats the best plan to opt for...

I forgot to mention ... I got a CIE excellence award for securing highest marks in Computer Studies in Dammam KSA (not that of a big deal but I think it would still count)
